put a 4" exhaust on all was well... then came the turbo. i got a downpipe with it ,but it was shorter than the stock turbo by about 1. 5 to 2" so when i was putting the exhaust back together i had to pull it forward to get it to the turbo ... . rubbing on the frame and transmission . . made an awful rattle

so the downpipe i have now is 5" long and where can i get a longer one??

i will be running just the downpipe for a few days :-laf :-laf

thanks

marcel

I just ran into the same issue when I put my turbo on, I went down to the local truck repair shop and they had a 12" piece of 4 inch exhaust pipe they gave me. One extra clamp and my exhaust is all back together.

I had the same thing happen. The new downpipe was a foot short. There happened to be a scrap piece of 4" pipe laying around, so I used it to make up the difference. Today I'm just cutting a 10 foot piece of straight pipe to length and making one continuous piece from downpipe to tailpipe. :)

tim,

how do yuo like the new turbo???a 66 :--) :--)

SPS 66, so far I like it but I'm not sure if my headgasket will like it. With the box off and just the little ole DD II's if feels just like the HX-35 but at around 2000 rpm it seems like it pulls harder. Running around town 30-40 mph the egt's get warmer, I see 900 degrees without even barely touching the throttle. On the highway I use to see 8-14 psi of boost at 73 mph and 700-800 egt now it's 3-6 psi of boost and 775-900 degrees.

The first day while on my first ride I turned the box on 5x5 and gave it a moderate peddle, after just a second my 40 psi boost gauge spun around and slammed the needle on the peg, it kind of scared me, I let out quick and kind of barked the turbo a little. I'd like to dyno now and see if it gained anything before I get new injectors.

It's different to drive but nothing really drastic. Someone had told me the DD II's wouldn't spool this turbo but they are wrong, it spools pretty easy. I've done a little bit of playing and the highest egt I've seen was in the 1050-1100 range, It climbs right up to 1050 and then seem to hang there.

:{ time for a new boost gauge... ... . will you be coming to new haven to sled pull next year? seems like the more you spend the more you are going to need
