I have a couple of questions so I will try to make this as simple as possible.

1. My fuel gauge has been stuck at completely empty and the fuel light is on. There is absolutely no flux in it at all, it is just plain dead. I am thinking this is the fuel sending unit. I am wondering what you all think, and how hard is it to fix myself.

2. Facing the front of my truck from underneath if I take my track bar in my hands I can roll it around by rolling my wrists. My truck is very loose in the front end. Do I need a whole new track bar or is that something that the Lukes Link can fix or do I maybe have some other issues that I need to look at.

3. The other thing is that my truck had 125,000 miles. I am wondering if I should still think about putting gauges on it and I am also thinking about different injectors. It is a 2000 2500 sport 4wd. It is straight piped and I have the edge EZ on it.

I know that was long but I really am searching for some anwers to these questions and who better to ask. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the sway bar,it's 40deg and raining right now so I'm not going out there.

Sending unit, probably,THe Service manual that totest it u have to remove it from the tank and do a resistance measurement with the float up and the float down. Resistance should be 20 ohms +/-6 with the fully up (Full tank) and 220ohms +/-6 in the down. empty possition.

As far as the guages etc are concerned, 125K on a cummins is just getting broken in, go for it

Hope this helps

I can't help you much on the f/e, but the fuel gauge sender I might be able to help a little. I think that the Dodge uses the same function as the GM units. To check the gauge function you unplug the connector to the tank unit and turn on the ignition switch and see where the gauge goes. If it reads past full, way past, then ground the wire to the sender and see if it goes to empty, if it does the gauge is ok, and you have a bad sender or ground to the tank.

If the gauge checks ok, the easiest way to change the sender is to pull the bed off the truck or slide it back far enough to get to the sender retainer ring, and then the tank sender is easy to change. This is if you have a regular p/u bed. Just remove the bolts and unplug the electrical connector and get 3 or more healthy friends and pick it up and move it.

Thanks for the help guys. I will probably have to drop the tank instead of move the bed because I have a gooseneck hitch in the back. I will have to look at it. Thanks again.

OK, as far as the fuel guage... needs to be replaced, I have gone through four of them in 229000 miles, like stated, it is easier to pull the bed.

AS for the front end, the track bar is not the only problem, however it is a major contributor in front end "looseness". Have you experienced th "death wobble" yet?. replace the track bar with the '03 conversion or a DT, you will never have a problem with the track bar again. Another suspect is the steering shaft, as well as the box, the tierod ends, etc.

Before you go bombing the engine, definately get guages.
