Need mathmaticians, for fuel tank???'s

Ok you mathmaticians, I am trying to figure out how much cu. ft. I need to make a fuel tank to carry 200 gal. of fuel. The outer dimensions aren't to awful paticular, other than it can't be taller than 3' and no wider than 7'6", length makes no difference it will be going on a flatbed. I figure I can make a tank myself at that size cheaper than buy 1 100 gal tank.

There is 231 cubic inches in a gallon, 7. 48 gallons in a cubic foot.

1 gallon = 0. 1336806 cu ft. Therefore, for a 200 gallon tank, you would need a minimum volume of 200 x 0. 1336806 = 26. 73612 cu ft plus 5-10% for expansion, etc.

7. 481 gallons per cubic foot.



200 gallons / 7. 481 gpcf = 26. 73 cubic feet = 46189. 5 cubic inches



Length * width * height = volume So put in your numbers



36" tall * 90" wide * X = 46189. 5 cubic inches.



Solve for X

X = 46189. 5 / (36 * 90)



X= 14. 3" deep



Sombody can check my quick math but if that's right you'll want to shoten or narrow it up a little.

remember these numbers are exact, make it bigger to allow for expansion. Rounding up decimals should be sufficient, or just make it 10% to be real safe.

One Stack, if you are looking for an in bed tank I have one thats 110 gallon that is set up like a transfer flow tank and feed directly into the stock tank at your disposal I have advertised in the classifieds. I've spent about $550-600 to get it to work right and the Murphys law says I dont need the tank anymore its only a few months old and looking to get $350 for the whole shootin match including pump. Dont know if that helps you out any or not.

well this is what i came up with and these numbers are rounded up to allow for expansion.



7'x 1' 4 1/2" x 3' (width x length x highth)



does that sound right to you math people?
