My VE pump is a little leaky although it runs just fine. Its leaking way down on the bottom nearest the block. I think there is a cap there with an oring but there is no way possible I can fix it on the truck.

I'm going to remove the pump, buy a new pump gear (I believe there exists a newer stronger unit from Cummins) and install some 185 Bosch injectors. (And a 3 piece manifold along with an HX35 with a 14cm non-wastegate housing... but we won't get into that here :))

Does anyone recommend any vendors here to go through the pump? And what should I expect to pay for a rebuild? Finally... should I ask the pump to be adjusted with specific increased fueling to work with the 185 injectors better?

Do your Home work on were to take your pump . I wish i would have not used

DCP in Tenn. They didnt stand behind there work , Id try calling Toxic Diesel in Utah they had a article in Diesel world they seam to know what to do , plan on $700 to 1200 for pump rebuild with tricks injectors with core 500 at the min. manifold ?

I got 28psi with stock turbo on a 93 and 4 " exhaust stock injecters and a fter market air cleaner

Nice Truck. I'm going to substitue your truck picture for another in the new TDR calendar.

If the pump is leaking, it only needs to be resealed. if you don't like to think of the idea of doing this yourself, Northwest Fuel Injection can. They have locations in Western Ohio, IN and MI. I use them for parts and some service work too.

The pump isn't really adjusted for any one injector. In fact, if a Bosch Service center/dealer works on your pump AND you would like to have any sort of warrenty intact, then they are only authorized to set it to the fuel and speed settings per the engine CPL

If your pump works then it only needs service and not rebuilt. A pump test stand can determine if your pump isn't up to par in terms of fuel delivery.

Are you refering to my Avatar? Or my 1991 in my Readers Rigs photos? The Avatar is my local Dodge Dealerships tow truck... a 1991 Indianapolis 500 Official Truck used at the track that year. Along with the "new" Dodge Viper pace car. My truck in my avatar was the one in last years TDR Calendar for April. I submitted it (with permission from the dealership) and got it in there. They have several copies of the calendar hanging in their office and shop.

I'm going to check with Scheid Diesel too. They are here where I live... but I didn't know what to expect for prices in general. I'll see what they want.

From memory... to have them test the pump was something like $300. I believe they said a rebuild would be in the $750 range. But its been a few years since I asked.

If I'm going to have the pump off... and with 200K miles... I absolutely want a test at a minimum. I'm sure I can install a seal kit, but definately want to know the condition while its off.

When they wear out, they wear out. I mean you'd know it. If it runs pretty well outside maybe a set of worn/leaky and out of spec injectors, then the base pump is just fine. What you'd need is to have all the internal springs replace and the throttle shaft/bushing and drive shaft bushing. The break-over spring would need replaced as well as the throttle lever spring stop welded back up or replaced.

I see that you live in Indiana you might Scheid Diesel a call. They did a lot of work for me when I was at IH in Danville, IL. They also did some work for me on my 1992 12V. Never had a problem with their work.

Just to clarify, are you saying you are getting 28 psi on what is essentially a stock 93 engine?

I've had good luck with Wentland Diesel in Milton-Freewater OR. They did my pump and after the warranty was up I "tweeked" it a bit.

Bob

My 93 is stock , as what ive been told in the turbo its the stock one for the engine .

The injectors seam to be stock as it didnt run like it does now before the pump was tuned and it has a almost the same size of air filter as a BHAF Drew , Cerberusiam son will confirm the engine is stock except the pump after i had to have him fix adjust the pump after DCPs screw up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I curious about this because my stock 93, except for exhaust and AFE, only produces about 16psi at wide open throttle. I've checked for boost leaks and didn't find anything. You're getting almost twice the boost pressure out of yours than I am:confused:

Does it run better than before? The 28 psi sounds about right with some tweaking and/or injectors.

Did you watch him EVERY minute to make sure he didn't turn it up? :-laf :-laf

Lazy pump or maybe a leak in the gauge?

According to Fritz's website, the 93 stock configuration should only be producing 15-18psi max, so I guess everything is A-Ok. I just put a new gauge, lines and fittings in as I thought the old one may have been faulty.

Sorry NCostello for the hijack.

Well since the Idots at DCP wasnt going to do any thing any how even if i sent the pump too them . Yes Drew turned it up and no it didnt get 28 psi as before , Treveor and my kids even hung out and had a good time . We need to all get together again soometime .
