need new alarm remote

I have a 2004. 5 3500. I have lost one of the remotes for the factory alarm. The dealer wants $42 for the remote and $56 to program it. Is this reasonable? Can I program it myself?

If you're refering to the lock/unlock fob with the panic button, you can buy those off eBay for a reasonable price. Make sure the one you are buying has the same part # and FCC # (printed on the back of the fob) as your current fo b, which means it will have the same frequency. Once you buy an additional fob, you can program it yourself using instructions printed in your owner's manual. It's pretty easy.

Without looking in my owners manual, I think you can only program yourself if you have two good FOB's. Your owners manual will tell you for sure.
