Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Need new head

Need help locating new head, head bolts and caskets,for my 97. Found out today my head is cracked in exhaust valve set. So machine shop says I need a new head. machine shop says they can get me one for 550. 00 ready to bolt on. Thanks for some help mschwier

That is about the going rate for a head. Cracks in the exhaust seats are not uncommon and does not always junk the head.

I would not buy a new head if it was made in China. Heard some bad stories.

i have 2 heads 1 just taken off a cummins reman, 1 still on the engine. only issue is they arent tapped for dodge style fuel filter. $350 + shipping pm me if interested. i have the dual filter assy that goes with it. head pn 3. 25 392 5400-00 made in brazil

yes my head has a bad crack really close to the water jacket, machine shop thinks its been leaking into the cylinder.

jdkammin whats the bad stories of heads made in china

have had two chinese heads in service and used for sled pulling,head is cast quite heavily and the quality or grain is good,tested old OEM with a grinder and the sparks are the same as the chinese one if that tells anything. I would use one myself. they can be had cheapeer than the quoted price, complete with valves and springs,would throw springs out anyway,and use a good viton valve seal

I will have my 24 valve head off this weekend for sale, I am going to put my "expensive" modified head on!
