Mom's pump shed one of its "ears" (flange doo-hickie that the stud goes through) that hold the pump to the gear housing. It seems to be in decent shape, performance-wise, but it now moves around on the engine, changing the timing on teh fly, and not in a good way. (she got 15MPG on the last tank, so I was appointed to trouble shoot. ) I figure I can take the internals out of her pump, put them in the new body, and put it back on the engine. Other option is $1000 for either a new one, or reman with no core. So, does anyone have one sitting on a shelf, or know where I can get one for less than an arm and a leg? thanks in advance.

Check on e-bay, just search "Cummins ", I bought a spare to do some internal mods to :D

I think the person I got it from deals with used/parts diesel trucks as he has a few pumps listed. Most were in the $200-$300 range

If you can't find one there ,I'll see if I saved the info to get in touch with them. The listing said if you didn't see what you needed, contact them

broken ear

Friend of mine did a 'fix' with a heel and washer that would catch the remains of the ear so that the pump is steady. Seems to be working.

Daniel,

I recieved your PM and was thinking that the pump shouldn't be moving on you as the rear of the pump is fastened to the rear support bracket and you have the other mounting studs/nuts.

How's about making up a piece to shore up a large washer to grab the pump housing?

GL-

The bolt on the rear may well have worked itself out, too. I know the studs did that. I'll see if I cant find something to fix it. What should I put in the gap to keep the washer flat? Would a piece of metal the same thickness work? I am going to pull the studs, spray with carb cleaner/ brakleen/ et al, and loc-tite them back in there. Then after it sits a while, put the nuts back on.

Thanks a lot guys. I hadnt thought of ebay for some reason. Must be in the water, my brain has been running in low gear for the last week or so.
