To clarify, my truck has the Snowplow package and camper package. I am looking for shocks compatible with these options.
Obviously, the packages above are used minimally during the year as opposed to an unloaded truck.
I have new Bilsteins on now and the ride is horrid while unladen. I bought these on recommendations from 2 different websites on how "nice" they ride.
I checked into Rancho adjustables and the dealer says they have nothing for the front end of truck due to snowplow package?
I need a good riding shock is all.

While I am only a 2wd guy......what difference does the snow plow package make? I always assumed that package was just a heavier spring on the same front end parts as a regular 4wd, same suspension travel, same bump stops, etc.......

"Nice riding"? Can't do much better than KYB Gas-Ajust shocks. They're firm without being solid. I've had 'em on my truck for 260k miles (the second set for 190k); I still don't want anything different. If you want more of a performance (stiffer) shock, they make the Monomax.

Spring rate is different.
When I look up Rancho shocks site certain shock descriptions say"without snowplow package".

That's what I thought. But assuming the front end, suspension parts, suspension travel are the same, what difference would a stiffer spring/spring rate make.....the shock won't care. Inquiring minds want to know! Where's Bob???

Stiffer springs will be happier with less compression damping and more rebound. You will want a revalveable shock to get the best out of your short stiff spring

Bob, by revalveable do you mean adjustable?
I had Rancho adjustables on before...they just wore out. Now with there new 9000 I can't get what I had before as far as an adjustable shock.
Are they any other adjustable shocks out there?

KYB shocks

Plush. Thats how I would describe the KYB gas-ajust shocks. Softer than the OEM shocks with 190K miles on them. In my opinion, they are waaaaaaay too soft. I would swap shocks with you, but logistics would prohibit it. I would never buy these shocks again, but they sound like what you are looking for.

YMMV

Which Bilstiens did you get? The 5100's I have now are a far better shock than the multiple sets of RS9000s I have ran over the years.

I have never ran rs9000 ranchos but had rs5000 shocks on my old 3/4 ton and they were not very good. But had them installed for free at sears years ago , took them forever! Anyways, I put on rancho rs7000 monotube shocks on the old truck and they are supposed to be comparable to bilstein 5100s. Look just like them. I have bilstein 5100s on my truck now and like them. I believe you cannot go wrong with a monotube shock. Plus the stainless finish will not chip and rust
