Question about Autometer Trans Gauge

Its finally time to replace the stock tires on my 04 2500. I'm tempted to just get what they put on the at the factory, because they have 80K miles on them and I've never had tires hold up as well as these have. They put on Michelin tires, and they have a "highway tread" on them. My main question is... if I go with a more aggressive tread pattern, will that A) reduce my hiway mileage and B) result in shorter tire life? Just curious what others have done and how it's worked out for you. Also, should I stick with the original or stock tire size? I'm sticking with the stock rims for now.

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

I loved the Michelin ATX's, but I wanted something that filled up the wheel well a bit more, so I went with the Power Wagon tires... BF Goodrich 285/70's. The pattern is a nice one, but not so aggressive that you notice it on the highway.

I put Cooper Discover ATR on my truck because the price was good. Just under 600$ for 315's. They have a long wear center rib that is supposed to be guarantee for long life. I'm happy with tire wear and noise. I have only one complaint. In northern michigan, we had a long stretch without rain. When it finally rained, I was driving down and country road and just like it was black ice started to spin. Scarry ride for a bit, but no damage done. Just a FYI...
