Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need new transfer case

My 1998 1/2 Dodge cummins with auto and 4. 10s blew it transfer case.



Does anyone have one or know where to get a used one?

Bob,

I have no answers but a couple of questions.

Did you ever change the oil in your transfer case per Dodge's scheduled maintenance, and also did you regularly use your

4 x engaged on dry surfaces, or just on wet and/or slippery roads.

Or did you not use your rig in 4x at all for long stretches?

Just curious as I have a similar setup. I have a theory about this but will not comment until I get more feedback.

Yes I did have it serviced twiced in 109K miles.



No I never drove on dry in 4X but did a fair amount of 4x on snow, and off road. Maybe a total of 1-2 K miles.



Never used 4x for more than a few miles at a time.
