(I'm posting this for my husband who is currently on the road) My NV 4500 crappped out again. I need a transmission repair shop in the Willamette Valley, preferably in the Salem to Eugene area. If you can recommend a good shop please give me their phone number and location. TIA Gary's wife

I'd delete this if I knew how. Found a shop in Salem with the help of Standard Transmission in Ft. Worth. A trans is being shipped and I should be on the road on Tue. Standard Transmission once again taking care of a customer!!

Six states distributors I assume? They have a shop in Eugene as well but they do the transmission work in Salem. Good to hear he's getting it taken care of and sorry I missed your initial post. I was working on my own NV 4500 last night.

transmission ?

Mine crapped out at 6 months and or 60,000 miles luckily Blumenthals came thru for me and fixed for free. R C

I can't complain too much, even tho it hasn't been long since the last rebuild. When the gear pack started making a lot of noise I drove in 4th w/ a 10k trailer from way eastern OR to Eugene, about 500 miles. I don't think many other trans would hang in there.

Ahhh the trans it sure is a love hate. My parts made it out of warrenty and then 5th started its issues again. Fluid was totally dark at about 500 miles. Love the transmission just wish it could take a little more power.

for stock power or even stocka dn then a bit, I think this transmission is doing great. 355,000 on mine without a glitch, so they aren't all bad. How much power are you guys putting through them to have porblems so quick with them?

215 HP 440 TQ. No abuse. Rarely over 2350 RPM. All appropriate services documented. 98k babied miles and blooey - no 5th gear. Not happy. Still thinking of taking DC and NVG to local small claims court. Small claims limit is +/- $5k, enough to cover a new 4500.

Both my Moms 99 and my 97 are on there third NVG4500 yes 3rd. The 99 has about 228,000 miles and the 97 has about 235,000 miles. We have lost 5th gear more times than I can count. The 99 has DD2s and a EZ and the 97 is stock.

wow, guess I'm lucky up here. I haven't met someone yet (in person) that has had that happen. Why the +/- 5000? I thought that when 5'th went you just had to open it up, put it back together, sometimes with a new nut. Did the nut get caught in the workings and mess stuff up?

Well, I figure around $5K to do a "proper" repair, which, to me, is a new 5600 and SB-OFE. :-laf
