ISchultz is so old..............

Thought maybe you guys (and gals) could help me out. Here is the scoop... I have a job interview next week with a company that is 150 miles from where I live. Obviously I would have to move if I get/accept the job. The problem is, my wife does not want to give up her current job but she could possibly work from home if we relocate. Do you think she should propose to her boss about working from home before I interview or only if I get the job?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a good plan of attack. :D

I'm the breadwinner in my house, so where I work... we live.

Being that you might not even like the new job... . wouldnt be fair to her to screw with her job.

Paul,

I would wait until an offer is on the table - before you accept it - and then have her check out her situation. Then you can make an informed decision on whether or not to accept the offer based on the big picture, and she doesn't have to make waves at her job prematurely. Good luck!

Interview for the job.

If offered, accept it, motel it during the week for a while to see if what you thought you were getting into is what the reality is.

If it is working out as anticipated, network with new aquaintances to find wifey a new employment opportunity near your new job.

If new job is interviewed for by wife, and offer is forthcoming, wife can go to existing employer from a position of confidence that no matter the outcome, she is gainfully employed.

Lots of pros and cons to think about. Isn't life fun?!?!?

Andy

BTW: Rule #1 Make sure you thoroughly discuss all options and get unconditional 100% support from wife before moving forward.

Rule #2 If in doubt, see rule #1.

:-laf Don't think I'll have to worry about that... her boss is the wrong gender. Thanks for the advice you guys. My wife will probably wait until after the interview before bringing up the situation w/her employer. One good thing about the company I am interviewing with, they run a fleet of Petes ;) which is not very common for a grocery wholesaler.
