Brake Controller which one?

I know this has been beat to death, but i am looking for people who have one of the newer brakes which are controlled by the truck's computer instead of the throttle switch. I was poking around on pacbrake's site, and apparently the new electronicly controlled brake can operate in different "modes" which are controlled by the cruise control... a couple i remember are 1-normal mode, 2- brake only activates if you activate the trucks brake, 3-brake won't activate if you hold down the coast button, etc... .

does anybody know if the bd has the same features... their website was lacking on the info

thanks

I have the BD. I picked it because I always drive 1500-2500, and thats where the BD works better then the others.

anyway, Mine is about 6 months old, and only came with the micro switch that mounts under your dash, on the fuel pedel. Real easy install, easy to adjust.

Before I got it, I had plans on building a switch setup where I could switch between the ECM turning it on, and the brake pedal turning it on or the mirco switch.

First I hooked it up the with just the factory switch, drove it a while that way and decided to leave it alone!

Now when I let off the fuel, the brake comes on right away, not in a couple seconds like the ECM setup.

No need for the brake switch, when you let off the fuel, the truck slows down nice without the brakes, (You will use the brakes much less then before).

In fact it don't take long to learn how to turn the brake on and off with your right foot as needed. I don't even here it come on anymore when shifting!

Happy owner of a BD with stock switch setup.

I've got the dtt/pacbrake on the acc switch not the pcm- like the fact of no delay- added the shifter switch about $35. 00 from napa so I can control it when I need the ebrake- if you plan on leaving the ebrake system on the pcm delay is for you, so that the brake isn't applied when you're shifting- OK I'm lazy but I'll do it with the switch #ad

The BD is activated by a switch on the fuel pedal, goes on when not depressed and switch for system is activated.
On my old truck 98 12v this worked just fine, but on doing research this does not work well on the 2001. 5 as when the cruise control is set and on the fuel pedal sits at the up position and does not move down like the old 98 12v did when in cruise mode.
I do like the computer controlled exhaust brake as it operates as you stated, mine is the Jacobs E-brake from Dodge, went in easy and works great.

I have the BD. I'm no expert, but when I throw the switch there is a definite affect. I can't imagine what would be better. I can go down any hill with the combo of my manual transmission and my BD.

You may want to check out this thread. Bill K makes some very good points in his post about the BD Brake!!

I'm not putting it down... just giving you some additional info about both brakes
