I have my auto transmission in pieces all over the bench. My dealer told me to change the Planetary gear if it is aluminum (which it is) to a steel one. Is there a place to get one other than the dealer.

When I do transmissions I get my parts from either Dacco Detroit transmissions or from Recon.

They are where most transmission shops get their parts from.

They are both national, and they both ship, so you should be able to get what you need.

You might want to update your profile so we can better help you in the future - such as where (in general) you live.

If you haven't already, I'd also replace all the torrington bearings! They are cheap and take a lot of load - espcially in the overdrive section.

Thanks guys, looking in to the torrington bearings today. I talked to the mechanic yesterday and he was talking about the front planetary, (which mine is steel) so it seems to be ok.
