Does Anyone Know The Quickest Solution From Un-gelling My Fuel Filter. It's Super Cold Up Here!! I Started The Truck, It Was Running Fine For About 3 Minutes And She Died. I Gotta Get To Work And I'm Dead In The Water. Will Heating Up The Block With The Engine Block Heater Work?? Anyone Please Advise!

If your can get some additive, open up the filter, pour out the fuel and fill it with additive and then put additive in the tank. Do you not have a fuel heater in the filter ;) Use your wife's hair dryer on the fuel filter housing to warm it up.

You have to get the fuel in the tank treated which can be a problem. Its already got wax crystals in it and I don't know if they will just "go away" without heating it even with the additive in it. I hear Power Service 911 works for this but never tried it.

If you don't get the fuel in the tank straightened out, it will just re-clog the fuel filter after you start the truck.

Come to think about it, I have added Power service white bottle to an oil heater tank that was gelled. I had to put a stick into the tank and sturr it up but the filter did survive long enough for the daytime sun to warm the tank up and melt the crystals.

I use Power Service all the time. White or Gray, it works very well ;)

I don't think the gray lowers the gell point, Its a cleaner and citane booster

the white lowers the gell point, and I think has a little citane boost but not much cleaner.

The red is the 911 to fix gelled fuel

I also see they make an lubricatant only additive

They also have a biocide product but I have not been able to find it.

One thing you might consider getting for your truck is the Factory Service Manual. It is an absolute must if you do your own regular maintenance or need to know about things with the truck. ;)

The Biocide works good too. Use it twice a year 4oz at a shot for 2 consectuive tanks.

Just curious, not meant to be smart *****, but how do you know it works good? Do you check the tank bacteria levels before and after running the biocide?

Filter check. I have seen (not on my truck) filters with slime on other outfits. When I had my tank down a couple of years ago to do my FASS install I examined it at that time looking at the pickup unit in particular. I have used Power Service and their Biocide since the first day I bought the truck new.

I don't have problems, but then again I have been doing regular treatments also. If I lived down in the South East with the high humidity then I would be using 1 oz of biocide every other tank. Right now I just do the schock treatment twice a year.
