I spotted a 98 quad cab 12v at a local dealer, very clean truck 79k miles,5 spd.

They want 21,000 for it and they will only give 8,000 for my truck.

$13,000 diff.

Is this a good deal?

But on the other hand I just put over $1,000 in my truck (new clutch, timing cover gasket's,timed)

I am just wondering what you guys think.

If I were to sell my truck outright I would ask 9,500-$10k.

You are the only one that can answer that question period. Do you want need a ex-cab? The 98 may have more power then your 94 right now (215hp=good pump). Are you in the market for a new truck anyway or just saw this and got to thinking? If they're asking 21k and won't deal at all thats hard to believe get them to split the dif. If you put yours for sale at 9,500-10,000 expect to get 9,000 at best and that truck might be gone. You need to decide if that truck is right for you and your family (if you have one) and your budget. Good luck I know what your feeling I just bought a 98 quad-cab 5spd. 12 valve 4x4 with 72k miles and I still have my 97 auto in the driveway. LOL

Sorry to post again but I was looking and noticed, pull your gauges and #5 plate out and put them on the 98 if you get it. The dealer won't give you any less without them maybe even more if they decide to keep and sell your truck (they don't have to explain them to a buyer). Guages and plate there's another $500 or so you don't have to spend on the 98.

Well I went to the bank today and the payments are a little steep.

Oh well theres always used CTD for sale somewhere.

This truck was so nice ahhhhhh

It ran really good for stock, the whole time I was driving it I was thinking how good my #5 plate would run in it!

keep looking

Try another bank! Maybe there's one that wants your business.

May be other used trucks, but not that many clean 98 12v.

I bought mine last year after looking for six months. Found it through Autotrader at a VW dealer in south Georgia! It had 45K on it and needed only tires. Otherwise it was super clean. I paid $21,900 for it then and could have bought several 2000's for just a few dollars more. I am still glad I got the 12V. I will be putting a torque plate in soon since the 5 years is up. It has 85K on it now and all I've done is tires and front pads. The fuel gauge has just started acting up so that will be the project after the plate.

Isn't there only one bank in Montana? :D Seriously, it does sound like a good deal. End of the month and end of the year. They might cut a deal.

If you can swing it, buy it now, then put your '94 up for sale. Once the '94 is sold, go (re) finance the '98. Neither will last long, especially the '98. They are rare and highly sought after.

Since you're close to Canada, see if it's Canadian built, for what ever that's worth. Fast way to check is if it has daytime running lights (fogs on). I hear that's the law. Local friend with a '98 is that way.

I'm only 22 my monthly income isnt enough to pay rent, fuel, food and all that goes with life plus pay for a 98'.

It sure would have been nice. O SO VERY NICE!!!!!

Stixx..... Get that truck, bite the bullet, and go for it hole hog! they only gave me 2k for my old 91 D250 Mule... I took it and ran! I got my truck for 16,500 after trade and negotiations... I got it 4-18-2000, wth 84,700 mi, and they were asking 19,995, got them down to 18,500, and got 2k for mine... I lucked out, found it at a Phurd stealership, and took it off their hands! I now have 172,400 mi on the clock, and still runs like a naked ape! Try your damnest to get it! you will be happy!

The day after I drove it one of my bud's from Vegas came to town for x-mas and bought it. I had planned on going back and dealing with them again, but I was too late.

He bought a #5 plate for it the same day and on Sat. we put it in.

Those bigger pumps sure run alot better then my 94'
