Nissan 240sx Clutch problem....Need help!

We've got a 1972 Ford F-250 on our Fire Department. We currently use it as our brush rig.

Here's a picture. #ad

Anyway, we are having a hard time finding a front axle seal for this truck. We need one for the passenger side of the truck. We also would like to have some new leathers for the front axle. We just took off the originals, and yes, they were leather and quite destroyed.

There are no identifying numbers on the axle less the 25K that we found. I think it's a Dana 44, but I'm not sure. I am hoping one of you guys can point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

I've always had 100% success getting seals with just the OD, ID and thickness. If the original isn't too bent up you can get the OD and thickness from it with calipers. Use calipers and the shaft for the ID. If Napa can't get them most any bearing house can. Don't think the new seals need to be leather, technology has changed in 30 years.

Chicago Rawhide

If you can tell me the id, od and thickness I will look up the Chicago Rawhide part number for you. As far as the leather seals, if they are just flat ones, you can make your own, done this for old army jeeps several times.

I have no idea about any of this, but I have to say that that is the cleanest floor I have ever seen in a garage. Holy cow I could eat off of it. .

Amianthus- it sounds like you have lots of good help offers to locate the seals.

If'n ya all need to find the part number for the axle, here's how.

Your front and rear axles are both Dana/Spicer. All Dana axles use a "bill of materials" number for the complete axle assembly. On your front axle, on the front of the long side tube, will be this set of numbers. They are often hard to find due to age and buildup of road grime.

Try contacting a competent off road shop with these numbers in hand. They should be able to help, or contact Four Wheelers Supply in Phoenix, Arizona @ 602-273-7195.

Hope this helps,

NAPA part numbers...

Yes, it should be a 44 axle. The axle shaft seal number should be 13165. Now that's the axle shaft seals themselves, also alot of times refered to as the "inner" axle seal. The "outer" or wheel seals themselves, are probably 25077. If it's not that one (there were two axles it could have had that year, an HD and a light duty) it should be a 24917.

Hope this helps.
