Need some info please

I have had the go ahead to order a new truck.

I need to know if the things that pleagued all of us on the older trucks and they still a problem with the new ones?

Like the injector/lift pump?

Is the auto transmission still a problem with the new ones?

I will have to get an auto so the wife can drive it.

I know the fuel mileage has been talked about here and vibration problems,but I am more concerned with the pump and transmission issues. . Any info would be helpful

Welcome to the third gen forum. Most issues fixed. Better lift pump and way better brakes. There's always some lemons; and you'll hear about them here!!! Mostly just read through the threads; you'll know what's up. Keeping in mind we tend to post when we have problems and need help or a shoulder to cry on -- so things slant to the negative.

I have been pricing them out and I haven't came accross any good deals yet. I thought they were selling around invoice,what I have seen so far here in michigan is not ever close to that

As to the transmission ? , my dealer says he hasn't had any of the 48's back and some are towing with boxes. Only complaint I have is the easily scratched paint. Doc

I test drove a 600 today and it had some quirks in it,it had a popping noise from the engine,but the auto transmission felt pretty strong,but not as strong as my DTT transmission

Also they have a new 2004 555 Cumminsin a SL model,some have told me that the 555 is really a better engine for mileage is this true??

The 600 had no vibrations,I took it up to 80 and it was smooth,I went 15 miles and the puter said I was getting 17. 4 MPG.



What do you all think??



They want 36,942 for the 600,sticker is 42,176.

Ignore the sticker price. You should be able to buy at dealer invoice less rebates. I paid ~ $34,000 (after rebates and before taxes and service contract) for mine. See sig for details.
