Competition NW Pa, Ohio Pullers...

How would an HX40 work with the current turbo on the H. O. ? Would it be a project worth attempting as far as power increase and how about a ballpark figure on pressure? I know there are better setups out there. Would rather invest in one new turbo than two. Any and all comments are appreciated, as I know there are many.

Short answer: If you have the time... try it. The worst that can happen is that it'll be a waste of time (highly doubtful... ) and that you'll eat some parts in the process.

You'll learn from anything you do to your truck, and that is usually never a bad thing.

FYI, a 55 is not suppose to be big enough for a supplier, something like 950 CFM. The reason we all use the HT3B is it moves 1300 CFM or so and it cheap, even a PDR tweaked one is cheap. Call Piers about his HT3B's and using them with Twins, can't say enough about mine(Money well spent).

Can see by the lack of response here, there won't be much help. Sorry for the bother. Will go it on my own.

Whistleman,

Twins can be a touchy subject sometimes. Jim Fulmer is the man about giving some help without stepping one toes. Becsure to check out his thread. And then there was a thread, this one, and one that REALLY pertains to you, this one.

It's not that no one wants to help, just that some of the people who know more about these things don't have the time to post much anymore, i. e. My6, and Sportbike, and some others. Like HoleintheHead said, do a search, that's how i found those 2 links in this post. :)

Hey where did you get that number? I thought it only flowed 1000cfm. So an HX-55 will flow more than a HT3B? I have a 55 and was/am considering getting rid of it and getting a HT3B, but if the 55 flows more I'll keep it. I hear the 55 is a newer/better built turbo. So a 35/55 would make good combo?

CRoth,

Do the 55's that you're looking at have a 4" outlet? I have heard that most have an outlet the same size as an H2E. I bought a HX55w last christmas that has a 4" outlet on the compressor and I was curious as to what the flow would be. I gave Pius at Bell the part number and he said that Holset didn't make these anymore because it was a batch of test turbos that they originally used on the Cummins Signature 600. It turns out they didn't use these turbos for major production and went with another turbo instead.

Thanks Andrew, I do it that way because I think and take care of other people before myself.
