Guys, I would like to find someone local to Roanoke, VA in order to do some work on my 95 Dodge 12V. Does anyone know someone?

I need the KDP install, front seal, and I need more power. I cannot get anymore than 2200 RPM's in 5th, and the truck will run 80 mph downhill. I know it should run faster than that, as it has the five speed with the 3. 54 rearend.

Any help or direction is appreciated.

Jon

Yeah 2200 RPM's is when my 94 also started taking a dump and then completely shut down at 2600.

I cranked down my stock governer springs . 025'' and now it runs hard all the way to 2800 RPM. Just do a little research of the GSK installation instructions and you can figure out how to do it yourself. It's like a free 3KGSK kit!

While you're at TST ordering the KDP fix just pick up a torque plate kit and install it. I'd go with a number 8 or 6 plate, thats a 50-75 HP increase and your stock clutch shouldn't have issues unless it's due for a change anyway. If you don't have boost and pyrometer gauges I wouldn't go with anymore than a number 10 plate though, too risky. If you want to save a little money just look up ''cummins fuel plate'' on ebay and get a plate from machineshopcharlie, his comes with a mini install kit as well and is $60 less than TST. Or if you just bid on it and no one outbids you it will be $100 less than TST.

I checked the truck, and it already has the TST #5 plate in it. Should I get the #10? I just need some guidance on diesels, as to the workings of the fuel system, and I think I will be good to go at that point.

I may install the 3KGSK kit, just not sure yet.

I already have the KDP kit, I just need the weather to cooperate so that I can perform the work.

What do you mean you checked the truck? How do you know it's a 5? The 5 is better than the 10 for your pump, leave it go.

If you want more power than your next step is injectors, but you MUST get boost and pyro gauges before proceeding especially with a GSK the added RPM's really make EGT's sky rocket.

Don't bother with the 3K kit, you can get that much RPM for free by cranking the stock springs down . 020-. 025''. Trust me I have the same pump as you, crank them down that much and watch the tach fly!

Here, take a look over these instructions and you can learn how to crank your stock springs-

I did it by way of the plug on the side of the pump.

I had done some reading and found out about the torque plates, so I started looking and noticed that someone had been "playing" with the truck. Turns out, that it has a #5 plate and the adjustable boost fitting. I suspect I will need the intercooler boots, and cranking down the springs will also help.

I take it that the GSK mod is fairly easy to do. How much time should I allow?

Currently, I can only run about 75 mph wide open. I will try this and see what happens!

Any other tips?

Jon

No need for intercooler boots, my stockers are holding fine at 35 PSI and I've hit 40 already by accident LOL.

How do you KNOW it's a number 5 plate?

After you study up on how to do it for awhile, I'd allow about 1-2 hours depending on how mechanically inclined you are.

You running out completely at 75 doesn't make sense. Yeah the governer should start kicking in around 2100-2200 but you shouldn't completely run out until 2600-2700 RPM it just stops pulling so hard especially with a number 5 plate. With the springs cranked down it pulls hard to 2800 RPM now. I could hit 90 stock, but yeah at 75 it would stop pulling hard. Is that whats happening?

I pulled the plate out, and it had 5 stamped on it, so I just assumed it was a #5. I guess my next purchase will be gauges. My truck pulls hard all the way to 75. It tops out at about 2200 in 5th gear, but will rev higher in lower gears. I am going to do the spring work, and see what happens.

My main problem, is that I don't have gauges, so it is hard for me to tell what is going on.

Thanks

Jon
