Archived Need to read codes! check engine light on

I was leaving the house, and the engine died as I was pulling down the drive. Check engine light is now on. I turned the key off and back on and it cranked, so I got it back to the house. How to read codes on '06? Does anyone have a code list yet?

If it is like my '05, Turn the ignition on-off, on-off, on and leave on. All codes will flash in the odo window followed by p-done.



May take you a couple of tries. I don't have the list of codes, but you can post them here and someone will chime in as to what they mean.



Hope it is nothing serious. Post your truck info in your signature so we can know more about you and what you have.



Edit: You will want to do each on-off cycle fast enough that the odo window does not display anything in between until the last on.

Tried the on-off-on-off-on sequence, nothing comes up.



I tried the sequence from my wifes mercedes, and got a series of msgs. One of the msgs was C 447. I have taken it back to the dealer to get them to look at it. Maybe they will let me know something today.



The sequence for my wifes mercedes is to hold the trip button in while turning the ignition to "run" and keep holding until it starts the sequence of msgs. It also checks all the guages at the same time, I think, because all the guages step from full on back to off in 1/4 increments.

I will post what they find.



The Truck is an '06 3500 MegaCab 4x4 with single rear wheel, SLT with all options, and is currently totally stock. See signature below, '06 Mega
