I am installing 370 injectors and delivery valves soon. Where can I get the #6840 Miller tool for removing/installing deliver valves and the #7471B baring tool?

Only thing faster than a 12 valve is my Ducati 4 valve

Snap-On sells the tool as part of the B&C series service kit. If I remember correctly, there are a couple of different kits, so verify that the tool is in the kit you want. I think they can get it separately too.

I know you can get most of these type tools through Miller Special Tools. They carry the service tools for Daimler/Chyrsler & Jeep.

pn: 7471 includes 6840, 6842, 6843a, 6862, 7471b & special dial indicator (1994-Current).

A-BOMB,

I got the barring tool from Cummins, part # 3824591. Can't remember the price, think it was around $30. Snap-On Tool part #YA9565. Snap-On also sells the fuel delivery valve tool you want. It is part # SP503 Spline Socket. Or they also sell a timing gause set which includes the dial indicator and holder, gear puller, and the spline socket (part # SP500 Diesel Timing Gauge Set). Don't know the prices for the Snap-on tools.

From what I see in the Snap-On tool catalog the Dodge/Cummins Service Set (part # 2017DSP or 2017DSPLT) I do not see a listing for the spline socket. Looks like the kit includes the barring tool & dial indicator (part #YA8331, Timing Indicator Tool), so it seems strange the kit would not have the spline socket. Might ckeck with a Snap-On dealer about that.

Thanks all for PN info,

I went to miller web site and they sell a complete timing package which included baring tool (#6840). I could not find individual numbers for the spline socket and baring tool. I then went to snap on site (www.snapon.com). Snap-on sells the Baring tool P/N YA965 , Spline Socket P/N SP503 , and Snap on timing kit P/N SP500, which did not include baring tool. Local Cummins dealer had baring tool for half price of snap on, but no other tools for project.

Hope this helps others doing the same job.

A-Bomb,

I just got the Miller delivery valve socket today. Its P# 6840. It can be purchased seperately from the timing Kit. You`ll need to call them. Cost about $45 w/s&h. #ad
