Well i am going to keep this one short.

I am having what i think is transmission problems now. The truck has something like a shudder happening when the TC locks up and i am under light throttle. I am short on funds and hope some one can tell what my problem is and the cheapest way to fix it quick. Have no money, and i had to take a small loan out to do the front end work that was causeing all of my problems.

Take it to a good shop and have it serviced. New fluid, filter and band adjustment really helps the shudder thing. If that doesn't help it's money savings time for a transmission. Mine went 100k and was still okay when I had a DTT rebuild. Regular service really helps since the shudder is more than likely fluid issues. Also, can use 1 bottle of Lube Guard-the red bottle- and it helps when done with fluid change.

I agree with Jay, have it serviced and replace the fluid with a Chrysler rated product.

Mopar is expensive but Valvoline also makes a "C" rated fluid as well.

You may want to have a complete fluid change which would require about 15 quarts or more. Just dropping the pan only removes about 5 or 6 quarts. You could do the fluid change yourself except for the fact that it is tricky getting the fluid out of the torque converter.

thanks for the replies just changed the fluid and did a complete flush of the transmission and adjusted the bands and it now works like new again.

Keep saving up. I'd be surprised if the transmission lasts to the end of the year. It won't like the plate being slid in combo with the 370s. Mine lasted about 6mths after the injectors, and I don't tow much.

One thing that will help it last longer, is to keep O/D locked out 'til about 50-55mph, them engage it. Will keep the line pressure up to hold the clutch packs together, and t/c lock-up clutch, too. Less slippage.

hey, dads truck is having the "lock- up shudder" I dont have a vast knowledge on the auto trannys-- what do I need to do to adjust the band clutches-- he is getting ready to change the oil/ filter.
