Manual transmission Gurus (AX-15)

Anybody know how to effectively remove oil stains from my trucks carpet. It kinda got dirty doing the clutch job and now I need some advice on how to remove it. My carpet is blue so any suggestions would be helpful

Thx,

Joe

Joe,

The best way I've found to remove everything from carpet is a dilluted solution of Era (laundry detergent) and water, in a spray bottle. Just mix about 1-2 oz of Era in a standard spray bottle, spray on the area you want to clean, let stand for a few minutes, then using a rag or scrub brush, remove the stain, works great.

A few weeks ago, I removed my entire interior, and cleaned the carpet with this, looks like new again. A few years ago, my thermos filled with coffee leaked all over the rear carpet (tan interior) the stain was about 2' x 1', the mixture removed the stain in no time, permenatly.

Regular old blue Windex glass cleaner works great on interior/carpet stains. Try it on a hidden spot first, but I've never seen any discoloration after use.

Here's some before and after pics using Era, amazing the crap the vaccum misses when the seats are in the truck... .....

After cleaning with Era, the interior also smelled new, it's a cheap and easy cleaner.

Also note that the little black marks in the top picture are grease marks, from parts, tools, boots, whatever.

I use hand cleaner, the type that has no pumice or grit in it. Just the smooth kind. Works well at removing grease and is not harsh on your cloth.

If you can get your hands on some Isopropal Alcohol, you might find that it works very well. We call it IPA and the nice thing is that it eats oil and crease. Just make sure your well ventilated and wear rubber gloves. ;)

Get a product called Oil Eater You can find it at most auto parts stores. Dont dilute it use full strength, Use a scrub brush and work into the stain, let set for a couple of minutes, then take the brush and dip it in some clean tap water and scrub some more. Use a wet vac and suck up the wet spot. I then take a towel and soak any moisture left.
