Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Turbo grumblings...

I want a turbo that can do the following.

push . 78kg/sec of air at a PR of 2. 36 with an efficiency of 70-75%

and I want the turbo to weigh less than 48#

Who has some Ideas?

With both turbos running at a PR of 2. 36, peak boost will be 67 psi!

Primary turbo discharge temperature would be 600F assuming 100F secondary inlet temp, overall efficiency of 70%, and one ATM inlet pressure.

If I drop seccondary inlet temp to 60F Boost temp drops to 524F

That temperature seems high, but it really is not... . if I were just running a single turbo... . well, it would be impossible now wouldn't it. ;)

now for aftercooled air temp.

IE = (Tin-Tout)/(Tin-Tamb)

well, with a IE of 80% and ambient air of 80F aftercooled air temp would be 184F with a pressure loss of 8 PSI.

wow, I seem to be talking to myself here, but my brain is working overtime, so here is some more.

I made a mistake in the above calculations, but it really is not important... max discharge temp should have been 634F not 600F

since I am pushing everything for worst case efficiency etc etc, lets take a look at what happens during "sane" boost levels around town on a cool fall day.

T2 = T1 x (P2/P1)^0. 286

T3 = T1 + (T2-T1)/CE

IE = (Tin-Tout)/(Tin-Tamb)

Ambient air temp is 60F, and the truck is moving fast enough so air temp under the hood is 65F

Both turbos are running at a moderate PR of 2, and 80% efficiency. Yes, in this example we are still Hauling Ass.

we are also at sea level

final discharge temp is 458F at 45 psi

then it goes through the intercooler (95%) and aftercooled temp drops to 80F at 38 psi.

IE will go up the faster the vehicle travels.

All I have ever seen is the T76 as the biggest, where did you find the T88? I see theres no compressor map for it either. I found it in their pricelist but can't find any other info.

N/M found it on http://www.nwbombers.com where the picture shows up.
