the blower motor in my truck is good, the fuse is good, the switch is good, the resistor coil pack thing is good, but i got no power to the whole works! can anyone with a FSM give me a clue as to where i am supposed to get this thing working? it's getting cold in the morning and i need the defroster to work!

thanks, kent :(

so after more investigating, there is no power at the fuse. i folowed the wire (I think) to under the hood, no , there are 2 wires black with red tracers. i tapped in on another circut for now, nothing is right on the truck. the radio cuts out when you pull the dome light fuse, the radio fuse does nothing, the power window fuse runs the wipers, what a mess!!

blower motor prob

I recently had to replace the on off (key) switch in my high miles 93. The blower motor and all the other stuff you mention are on or off with the switch and I suspect you are getting some problems there. After all, these truck are getting some age on them.

Two screws on the bottom of the cover just under the steering wheel will expose the lower part of the switch. If you have tilt adjustment on the steering wheel, the lever has to come out to remove the top side of the cover. It is threaded in. Have you noticed a burning wire smell when the blower is on high for very long? It is the power wire at the switch. NAPA here has the switch. The procedure to change the key tumbler is a bit tricky but really not to bad. Some of the wierd stuff is probably electrical back feeding to those components.

Keep us posted.

James

PS: It isn't good to wire them straight as you will first and last leave one of them on and the battery will be dead when you come back to the truck. It would be a good idea to supply that blower circuit with a relay to take the load rather than the key switch.

hello, i lost my blower fan and ac and windows one time and had to replace the fuseable link on the drivers side inner fender ,theres 3 relays bolted to the fender and below them is there you'l find the fuse links, i think its the orange wire that runs the ac ,blower etc,i had 12v there but when i pulled the wire it broke, hope this helps,

right now the blower runs off a switched circuit, no load when the truck is off. i also have a new ign. switch behind the seat, just haven't got it in yet... high miles? i've got somewhere about a half a million. .

i will check fusible links when it gets done raining.

thanks, kent
