NRA Fighting to protect the FIRST Amendment

Ok network guru's I need some information please.

We have a Cisco 3640 Router that we have added some filters to protect the network on the other side of the router. When I apply the filters the 3640 stops getting the ip routes from our side of the network. I have set up OSPF and also EIGRP to send out the routes but for some reason the routes time out after a short period of time.

Also the network on the other side of the router uses our Groupwise email and after I apply the filters, the route times out.

I have put all the ip address' for the Groupwise, the loopback address and even the ip address to a 4500 on our side so that it could send the routes to the 3640. . but that is not working. The other network gets a mainframe session, even with the filters applied they stay connected.

I had thought about putting a static route in the Groupwise server so that the route would not time out but I wanted to find out why there is a problem. .

Any idea's

Thanks

Rick

We are using TCP/IP. We finally found out what the problem was and added a line to the access-list and it works great. We applied the filters and then watched to see if it lost the routes. As of yesterday afternoon all was well with the network behind the router. The way that we found it was. . we captured some packets traffic to see what the OSPF was doing its hello's. Found out the ip address that it was looking for and added it to the list and the rest is history...

Major cool stuff. .

Eigrp is Cisco only! We have 4 Enterasys Switch Routers that won't do EIGRP, so thats the reason that we are using the OSPF also. Our Groupwise email server wont do EIGRP. . its OSPF only!

I realize that EIGRP is Cisco only. I didn't know you had Enterasys switches. I have never even heard of those :)

Was just curious.

We have a mixed shop. . Cabletron(Enterasys) and Cisco! I was able to purchase 4 of the SSR8000 Switch Routers fully loaded with 10/100 UTP blades and also Gig fiber blades for $3000 each. The are refurb. but the company that I deal with gives me a great deal on the warranty.

If any is in need of some great deals on network(refurb'd) stuff. . pm me and I will send you the contact and company. . We have bought about 24 of the Catalyst 2924's from them.
