Found a Cummins pullin a Phord in NC!

440 exhaust help NEEDED!

How likely is one to get a ticket in NV off the Interstate?

In December, I saw one cop. And I saw one Sheriff's deputy pull someone over (just passed me) on the Interstate near Winnemucca.

If I get a chance to get to MM, it's going to require I make REALLY good time across the state getting down there.

Speed limit is 70 most of the way. Be careful in the towns. As you noted, there aren't many police along the way, and most of them are pretty reasonable, won't get upset at 73. If you are going 90 with California plates

Cruising speed

Power Wagon,

I run through Nevada all the time for work. In the 70 zones I run 75 with the cruise on and never take it off, even when a cop hits me with radar. I have probably been down 93 and 95 20 times this year and not a ticket yet. In town stay 5mph or under from the speed limit. Most of the cops hang within 15-20 miles of the bigger towns. Hopefully I will make it to MM too. Hope you make it.

So you're saying that doing 90-100 from Battle Mountain to Armagosa Valley could result in a visit with the constabulary?

Possible internment?

Just wondering :)

If you have a radar detector, which I do, I wouldn't have a problem running 80 or maybe a little more. The problem is if there are no other cars on the road you can't pick up the county mounties using that instant on thing. If they hit ya with that your done. If you get clocked at 100 you will probably miss MM anyway. So you have to say to yourself"is it worth it" PW where is Weston, OR? I was just wondering why your going through Battle Mountain, is it faster?

Nathan

NHP has a 10 over rule. If no radar detector, set the cruise @ 7 to 8 over, never a problem. Wolfgang is right on about the small towns.

I kept it around 80 for miles on end driving to LV last summer. I was going 82-83 down one hill near Tonopah and a cop came around a corner ahead of me. He turned the lights on for a moment to say "slow down, partner" and kept going. Other than that I never saw a cop the whole way except near a town.

The speed limits around the little towns are amusing, they step you down in 2-3 increments in a short distance as you enter town.

I had no trouble making good time and was able to drive from Pasco WA to San Bernardino CA via Boise & LV in 1 day (18 hours including eating out 1 meal and fueling up twice).

Radar detector, CB and let someone else be the "rabbit" (usually not a problem). Scan the bridges for troopers sitting before you get to them and as you pass, look over your sholder at the ramp for "sitters". Look for brake lights coming on ahead on curves and after bridges. As you approach bridges and curves, etc. note the terrain. Does it look like there may be "someone" hiding?

Plan B: cruise 5mph over. Put some good tunes on. Enjoy the trip.

Good plan QRTRHRS except on the roads he's talking about taking there aren't any any overpasses. This is out in the country, way out in the country. You can see for 20 miles and unless you are pulsed you pick up the radar a mile or two ahead of the NHP.

No radar detector...

When I came through from Pahrump, it was a weekend in the winter. I didn't expect police and didn't really see any.

But if I'm to go this year... I can leave Pasco, WA, at 7:45 AM, and Mapquest says it's 966 miles to Pahrump. I will be picking up the wife, who will have just finished a 12 hour shift working all night, so she c an't drive. I will need to get to some place reasonably early, so we can both get shut-eye.

966 miles averaging 65 MPH takes just under 15 hours. 15 hours from 8 AM is 11:00 PM. That's probably just not doable.

+ sigh +

Tonopah!

From experience traveling down I-95 to Las Vegas watch out coming into Tonopah. We were traveling down to Vegas for a Football Playoff game and 3 of the vechicles in our caravan got ticketed in Tonopah. Luckily I was not one of them. Going south bound at night they sit about 25 feet off the highway with just parking lights on and nab people all night long. Between towns see few if any NHP officers.

Watch out for goldfield. When I drove through there I passed by a cop on the way into town, saw another in town, and one followed me out of town for a couple of miles. I turned around and went back through town and they already had an rv pulled over. Same goes for beaty.

You just need to run your Ctd on Jet Fuel (12 valves only) I went to Vegas for meeting In Feb. and never once was pulled over at 600MPH. they just haven't figured out how to pull over a guy who's ride is running on JET fuel. :D Oo.

I've given up on the deal.

The wife and I will spend our anniversary here in Oregon, probably just 2 or 3 hours from home.

Maybe some other time I'll make it to MM or other big event.

:(
