New '04 Honda Accord Diesel

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Fire truck was a no start.

What are we all paying for Diesel now?

They claim 340 Nm torque, which is 251 ft-lbs. They also claim 140 PS (Pferdestarke) of power, which is 138 HP. A Yamaha FJR1300 makes 145 HP. :D

You know Just the other day I told my wife( who drives a mean looking HONDA), I wish they would make a diesel..... Hey now they do. Unfortunitly, It looks like they are only looking at european markets, they only said they were EU2004 complyant, and nothing about the USA. I would imagine if I were in there shoes, I would launch a new diesel in that market also. They are much more diesel friendly, and get a huge break on fuel cost with the diesel (tax). I am affriad we can only wish? Ah, I can still remember the first time I drove on the autoban, wow what a great ride!

My Zx9R makes 142.

I think its cool!

the new 2. 2 i-CTDi engine which powers it is the first car diesel unit to be fully designed and developed in-house by the company. So with that in mind Honda makes quality stuff ... ... Reliability anyways no doubt. So it shouls be interesting.

HOWEVER

Imajine the next generation RICER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Not so fast guys, my buddy just left a lil while ago and we were talking about the new hondas that are out right now. His friend works for a case study group for HOA and this has been kicking around the skunk works for quite some time now. Well yes the diesel is going to make its debut in the euro market. OVER HERE however you may see it pop up in the Acura TL series as that is the accords of the euro market. However once again we MAY see it in the following two years.

First the Honda Of America team will collect some sientific data from the general public (Auto Shows , select dealers , Market studdies etc... ... In comes Chris's friend) What was once just a Hmmm what if we ..... turned into a instead we should. Meaning the Hybrid Electric / gas model turned into a what if we made Electric / diesel (more tQ to haul Batteries). Then lets develop a ULEV-Diesel.

Made all the sense to me so I am gonna stay tuned to whatever direction this goes in.

Watch out in '06 boys I may bring my 01 CTD and the wifes TD Accord for some DD1's and a HY35

By the time '06 rolls around... little 1. 9L VW TDI's will be well over 300hp by the time I get my grubby paws off of them... .

After riding in Deo's chipped/fat injectors version of my un-chipped/equally fat injectors setup - I'm finally starting to realize the potential.

Honda has a big game of catch-up to play against VW - the TDI's have been in use as industrial, automotive, etc. use for a long time... ...

The TDI isn't perfect, but the basic platform is proven.

Not quite. The Acura TL is based on the US Accord platform. The Acura TSX is based on the Euro Accord platform.

A 1. 9 tdi will NOT see 300hp. Maybe 300 torque but you're dreaming. I know guys with bigger turbos, 12mm injection pump, chips, HUGE injectors etc, and are getting 160-170RWHP, and nearly 300lbs torque, but I dont think the little engine can make much more.

However when 2006 and ULSD rolls around, we will get a LOT of cool diesels, including (my guess) the new honda diesel as well. The 15ppm sulfur ULSD will allow many more diesels to meet emissions. When that happens, there is a BMW 330D with my name on it!!!!

BRING ON THE ULSD!!!!!!!!

OK. I respect your opinion. :D

300hp TDI will happen - especially with the ambition that Deo and I have.
