My dad has an 06 3500 4x4 with less than 5k on it, completely stock. Has the G-56 transmission. Yesterday it drove just fine, no issues. This morning it took a fit and barely ran, set the CEL, and almost didn't get it home. I fired it up, and it ran fine, got it up to normal operating temp and still ran fine. Tried the key on 3x and got no codes, just done, in the odo window. Drained the fuel filter and got nothing but clean fuel. It has about 1/2 tank since last filled. Oil is clean, as normal, no odd colors or odors. Fuel pressure and all gauges on dash show normal specs. Ran it all day, and started it several times each run out, but nothing out of the ordinary, full power, no smoke or noises. Still the CEL stays on. Going to take it to the dealer tomorrow, and see what they come up with. Anyone else with this issue? I have searched the forums and come up blank. Few posts with this issue, but they refer to a TSB for older trucks, and this one should have all those already done, since it was built way after those TSBs were issued.

My CEL just came on this weekend. It was the first cool weather. I could not get any codes with the Key on-off sequence. Dealer looked at it this morning and Code 2609 was set. According to the Dealer it is an Intake Heater Grid issue. They already replaced the relay in the Spring when the same code was set. Now they are going to replace the Heater Grid itself.

could be ambient air temperature and battery temperature sensor setting cel. i had it happen to me . after a few key cycles 20 or so it reset itself

They checked it out today, couldn't find anything, said they would test it some more tomorrow. They wanted to know about the "unauthorized fuel pressure gauge, mounted in the SRT-10 pillar. Its been on there a month with no problems, and this just started yesterday. I don't think they know what they are doing. Real confidence builders.

New 06, CEL followup

 Well, they called today, said the shop foreman worked on it all day. They couldn't find any codes that set the CEL, and during the testing, it went out on its own. They drove the truck for 20 miles, trying to get it to come back on, but no luck. They said they only do TSBs when the truck is brought in for other maintenance, at which time they do a search for all TSBs that apply. So, no other work was done in the 2 days they have had the truck. And this is 5 Star service??? Guess I need to find another dealership.

filing up

When my truck had about 5000 miles on it I was in a hurry one night and filled up my truck with it still running. The CEL came on and stayed on for about 2 days then went off. They say if you do that, fill up with it running, it will set the CEL off. That might be the problem. Don't know though.
