I have tried to turn off the horn chirp when locking the doors about 20 times over the past week and I give up! My 06 worked the 1st time I tried but this one will do everything but change the horn! Anyone else have this problem with an 07 yet? And I am following the instructions exactly as they are printed in my manual..... :{

When I purchased my 06 I had difficulties with programing as well. I found a addendum in my owners manual which gave me the proper procedure on how to program specific features which had been changed since the printing of the owners manual. Not to say that this is the problem and solution, but its something to think about... BH

I have the same problem. I picked my 07 Mega Dually up yesterday. I was able to activate the door unlock feature but I couldn't disengage the horn chirp when locking the doors.

Ditto for me! I am going to go through all the manual stuff again and make sure I didn't miss a addendum page for this. My neighbors are about to kill me I bet!!

MSHudson - Did you get the idleup feature turned on by the dealer? I tried and the service manager said he couldn't because of emissions. I think he is feeding me bull. When I looked in the owners manual it states in there that the dealer can turn the feature on for you. I guess it is a trip back to the dealer.

One other question, I see you have the Laramie. I have a question posted about the daul-zone controls. Does the little white mark on your temperature slide light up when the dash lights are on? Mine doesn't but it looks like they should.

I didn't have the higher idle-up turned on by the dealer. Since it will idle-up to 1000 RPM on it's own I am happy with that.

As for the temp slides..... no mine do not light up nor did they on my 06 either. Would be nice if they did though!

Did anyone ever figure out how to turn the horn chirp feature off on the 07s?

I couldn't do it either, finally had the dealer do it with the DC programer. They didn't charge me for it as I pointed out this should be done very easily as it says in the owners manual. They did admit they could not do it without their programer.

Just picked up my '07 today and can't get the horn to deprogram either. I don't have my '05 manual close by to see if it's sequence is different from '07. Not a big deal i guess if the dealer can do it. I upgraded to 285's right after taking it off the lot and need to have the tire size changed along with the high idle.

The Fix!!

I had the same problem on my 06 and it drove me and my neighbors nuts.

Here is the fix:

1. Perform this operation while standing outside the vehicle.

2. Press and hold the LOCK button on a programmed key fob.

3. Continue to hold the LOCK button, wait at least 4 seconds, but no longer than 10 seconds, then press and hold the PANIC button. Release both buttons at the same time.

4. To reactivate this feature, repeat the above steps.

5. Turn around 3 times and yell YES!!! :D

crabman :)

NO!!! Thats the same directions as in the '07 manual and it doesn't work. I've tried several times, (neighbors are across the fields) and no go. I was able to get the ALL door unlock(with fob key), 15mph autolock and seatbelt chime to disable on the first try.

Thank you, crabman. I have tried to get the chirp off for the last two days on my 06. Following manual to a tee. Sitting in truck, ignition on, seat belts buckled, pushing lock botton followed by unlock button, etc, etc. . Then I researched "horn chirp" and your reply nailed it. I sure felt funny (and releived) when I stepped out in the garage, pushed the lock button then pushed down on the PANIC button and it worked!!!

Just a few days ago someone on the forum told how to check the engine hours and that worked too!! I sure am learning a lot about my truck just by reading the posts.

I've been told by Dave Smith Motors and a D/C tech that software to recalibrate tire size change doesn't exist yet. By the way,my Toyo 285-70-17,load range "E" tires are made in China. I thought they were made in Japan until the new U. S. A. plant is in operation? Sure like this truck and the Commie Toyos!

We do have the ability to program up to 285's. Bigger than that you will have to do some math. They offer different gear ratio/tire combos so with a calculater and some time it can be done.

I too have the horn problem. The cause for me not being able to change the setting is the dealer add on alarm. Speaking of which, they still owe me a book on it. If I disarm the dealer alarm, then I can change the setting. The problem is that when reset, the horn sounds... ... ...

I'll get it fixed on my next visit.
