just installed a one of a kind set of rims and tires from brentz wheels. my stock tires needed to be replaced. i asked brent to design me a set that would fit my srw. after a bit of back and forth we landed on this design. fairly simple but definitely strong! suprizingly brent was able to include the tires with the rims mounted and balanced. after a month of machining and polishing. he shipped them to me last night so here are the picts... i've posted them on my website so i could have them at a higher resolution. heres the link

Brent was a great guy to talk to. He made me a good deal as far as his rims go, but since I needed 6 I just couldnt bring myself to put down that kind of $$$. His center caps and lugs are awesome, wish I could get his shotgun lugnuts but he said they wont fit on the Rickson's :{

Greg, this is a nice truck. I really like those wheels and tires. I am considering new tires at this time, but I don't think my bank account will let me go your route. But I'll say again, that's a nice looking truck.

Its over $800 dollars wheel for the ones I was looking at and those arent the most expensive ones  (no... tires not included)

Looks nice, what size are the tires?, how much $$$?

I spoke with him. He was really nice. He quoted me between $2,400 and $2,600 for a set of wheels. The variance in price was consistent with the amount of work required for more intricate designs. We did the math together and the offset came to . 25" I believe.

Regardless, Greg's wheels sure look saaaweeet... .

Price does not seem that bad considering, but I would think if you were going to pay that much money and they are custom made they could at least make them the correct offset. What is the reason for not making them with the correct offset?

Good question -- I don't know.

I got the feeling that the raw stock that he starts with has a pre-determined offset but I could be wrong. Initially when I spoke with Brent he seemed to not fully understand the unique offset issue with our trucks... I can't remember the specifics of the math but I believed we ended up at . 25"

Looking at Greg's pictures (as beautiful as they are) the amount they protrude from the wheel well seems to confirm this.

you are correct the blanks are set brent cant make the blanks just machine them. i'm probably looking at some fender flairs by this winter.

I wonder who makes the blanks? Maybe they can be contacted about the Ram's high offset specs (which is +40mm and a backspace of 6" on a 8" rim). Vaughn

Factory offset is +40mm or 1. 57"

These rims are 6. 75" wide, so the correct backspacing to make the outside edge of the wheel rim to be at the same plane as factory would be 4. 75"

That's the distance if you were to put a straightedge across the back of the wheel and measure to the mount pad.

Vaughn

Factory offset it 1. 7" (according to Rickson) resulting in a backspace of 5. 7" and a front space of 2. 3". So 6. 75" minus the same front spacing of 2. 3" is 4. 45" on a 6. 75"

Capiche? I know I'm right. I'm 100% right. You're wrong! Am I right? Who's right? I swear I'm right. Wait! You're right. I know you're right!

4. 45"? What was I thinking?

JUST KIDDING VAUGHN! But it is 4. 45" Honest! I think... . #ad

Assuming you want the outside edge to be the same, JGann has got it. 4. 45" bs or 1. 075" offset for 6. 75" wheel.

I think it would be a better design to have wheel centerline in the same place. 1. 7" offset or 5. 075" bs for 6. 75" wheel.

So is factory 1. 57" or 1. 7"? Are we just splitting hairs?

Wait! Matt400 in another thread says that the backspacing is 6" on the OEM 8" wheels. If that's correct, the front spacing is 2". So on the 6. 75 wheels, the proper backspacing should be 4. 75" so the front spacing will stay 2. "

That's my final answer.

Wait! Can I phone a friend?

Centerlines would be best because you'd maintain the geometry and forces of OEM

(Like how I said that as if I knew what I meant ;) )
