OK, Finally! here it is for all to see...

Tires:

Michellin XDE-MS 12 ply 245/70R 19. 5" Rated at 4080# @95 PSI. "F" Rate. bought locally for $265 ea.

Rims:

Ricksons Forged Aluminum Rims "Eliminator" model. 8 X 6. 75" (new for this year) The michellin tires has a rim need of 6. 75 to 7. 5" Bought at ricksons for $395 ea.

This is the new rim for Ricksons... . Originally I was going to get the 10 hole classic like the simulators and almost every big rig..... Got these and I like them better... . Almost looks like the dodge rims...

Heres a side shot of the rim... It sets about 1" deeper from the outside than the old rims... but then it is narrower as well. notice the dish where the lugs go, the cap sits on the lugs anf there is a gap but it still looks good...

Here is the rear of the rim, it was clean. . and if you give it a little time, would be able to be polished..... notice the inside of the holes... polished openings. The rear plate to the back of the rimis like 2" less than the 16" but again the rim is narrower.

#ad

#ad

here is the section width of the tires... . The left is the 16" E rate 265/75-16... the Section width of the 16" is about 11"

The section width of the "F" tires is about 9. 5". The bulge from the tread to sidewall is 3/4"... . The 16" is 1. 5" The suprising thing is the tread on the "F" is maybe 1/4" wider than the "E" tire. but more squared off.

Shot of the rear tire. .

Shot of the front... .

So there you have it.....

I am currently empty and I had the place inflate the front to 50# and the rear 45#..... I adjusted the front to 60# but have'nt driven it yet today... . Rear rides nice... like my "E's"... . The ride is smooth and the traction tires sing a little going down the road but not bad...

Looks great Eric. Did you say you bought 5 tires & wheels? Will the 245 fit in the spare rack? Did they have any trouble balancing them?

YesI did get 5 rims and tires. . I will rotate the spare in the group

I put my tire in the bed but this tire is the same as a 285/75-16" I have put that tire in the spare rack so yes I think it will fit... .

The tires took between 2 to 6 ounces. This was due to different placements on the out of round of the tires and rims are not exactly perfect... . They put the tape weights on the inside...

Hey Eric

I think I remember you from a couple months ago... Glad to see ya finally got them. Those rims are SWEEEEEEEEET. :D

About the tires "singing". You obviously have a 2nd gen. Them XDE's are the loudest thing on my truck. I'm glad to see you're smarter than me and got the 12ply's. I ASSumed I'd be getting 12's well... these 16's ride rough. period.

All around. . really nice truck. Except for that "turndown" thingy. :-laf

Checking out the Load info sheet for the tires and on the michellin table, the lowest is 70#. . at 6880# per axle

Did some calculations for lower weights and pressures, the #'s below 70# is Mathamatical guesses on the separations of the uppers.

PSI... ... . Axle... ... . Tire

95#..... 8160... ... . 4080

90#..... 7780... ... . 3840

85#..... 7480... ... . 3740

80#..... 7280... ... . 3640

75#..... 7080... ... . 3540

70#..... 6880... ... . 3440

65#..... 6680... ... . 3340

60#..... 6480... ... . 3240

55#..... 6180... ... . 3040

50#..... 5800... ... . 2900

45#..... 5600... ... . 2800

40#..... 5400... ... . 2700

35#..... 5200... ... . 2600

30#..... 5000... ... . 2500

Right now my front is 4400# and the tires are set at 60# but I think for empty, I will set at 50# The rear is at 45# but I think 40 or 35# will be good...

For loaded, I think front at 60 just for a little bit better roll resistance, the front changes about 200# heavier total. The rear loaded, is 6100# with the pin weight. I am thinking to use either 70# or 80# (6880# or 7280# load) would the 80# be too hard? Run on the center?

Looks great man, I've got the Ricksons on my pickup with the Michelin XDE M/S in the 16 ply tire, and they do have that big-rig style howl to them driving down the highway, but they wear like iron and sure look cool. My tires do seem to ride a little rough as well, but only in the rear, and Im sure that having a dually is part of that problem. Not to mention the fact that it is a Ford ;) Rims and tires look awesome man, I hope you have as good a luck with that setup as I have had.

Didn't want the 16 ply ... Waaaaayyyy to hard... . Mine is the 12 ply and the load rate as you see in the above is 4080# at 95 psi

Did a test with the #posted above... ... Wierd... . and strange... . gonna take a while to get used to the new PSI's to do... .

Have some family over from Germany so 5 adults in the truck... 01 2500 with "stuff", 5th wheel hitch, spare tire, etc... . probably around 8200# Full of fuel... .

Going by the #'s above, I lowered the front tires to 45# and the rear to 35#... ... Drove a good way on the freeway, touched the siewall, Barely... I mean barely warm..... Rears, cool to the touch.....

So I might be able to go 40# front and 30# rear for solo..... When towing I would probably do 50# front, and 80# rear for the pin weight..... At 80# that is 7280# per axle and the weight of the rears is like 6100# so that is safe..... When the tires are that low, they have a better ride than the "E" Rate 16" go figure.....

Anyway, Can't wait til next week when we head toward Vegas for May Madness... . My trailer is the Raptor... Was told I would be in a back-in by the pool area... .

Eric, sweet! I also prefer the look of the Eliminator wheels over the Classic. Another advantage is they're slightly lighter.

Do you have any vibation or shimmy at highway speeds?

I appreciate the pictures. I do find one thing curious though, do these wheels seem to sit out maybe 1/2 to 3/4" compared to stock? It is hard to tell with your flares but when someone else took pics of their forged Ricksons I was surprised to see they appeared to set out more than I would like. I am wondering even after waiting so long for them to come out with the right offset that they wimped out and went with a "one offset fits all" decision?

Vaughn

I think that's about as close to a set of 20's as I'd ever put on my ride... keep the stock rims around for pulling/racing/winter/mud tires and run the others into the ground...

time to start saving... I think they look good!

They look great! & they don't stick out a mile like some aftermarkets.

I wonder how the wheel & tire combo weight compares to the 265's.

Eric ... here's an option for that tail pipe ... you'll be able to see that mudflap better too.

The combo is heavier, the rims are 33# and I THINK, the tires are like 80-90# so about 120# verses like 75-80# on the E- 16"

How do they look without the cap? ... Like the 16's... hub sticks through the open hole and the cap clips on the lug-nuts... BUT, you have to gorke the clips tighter otherwise the caps rattle... . When I bent the clips tighter, it takes a little bit more of a tap to put the caps on but it don't rattle...

The exhaust pipe is from Rip rook, I might do some work on it latter but for right now, it shoots the black stuff out and away from the trailer when towing.

I put my Ricksons on last week. They ride way better than the BFG 285s that I took off. Some one asked about weight. My stockers with crome clad steel weighted in the mid 90s LBS on the bathroom scale. The ricksons with 245 Hankook Load range G tires weighted right at 125. The funny thing was, the UPS sticker that Rickson put on had a weight of only 115 LBS each.

Did Rickson finally get the 1. 41 offset forged rims for the late model trucks or are these still the . 25 offset? Does anyone have a picture of the Rickson forged wheels on a 3rd gen truck?

Thanks

Gino

The 245 Ricksons do not stick out any farther than the BFG 285s did on the stock wheels. It is my impression that the tires I have now throw fewer rocks than the 285 BFG KO tires did. When you get straight with the body either front or back, the tread is flush with the body. I would say that 265 or 285/19. 5s would stick out considerably.
