I finally could no longer resist all the rebates and bought a new 2002 2500 quad cab. Decided not to be a 2003 guinea pig. Got it for $3,000 under invoice and now trying to decide what to do with my 2000 2500 with 40,000 miles (anyone interested? ... fully equipped leather, never off road or tow). Some observations on 2000 versus 2002. 2002 has better brakes, smoother auto transmission, the right length trans dipstick and more power. 2002 lacks some exterior black plastic trim and rear wheel well liners which are on the 2000. Both trucks needed an immediate adjustment of the steering box to eliminate wander. Needless to say, both trucks no longer have the stink bottle on the crankcase vent. The 2002 came with the worst damaged paint job I have ever seen. Looks like brake fluid from a vehicle above it on the carrier. Will cost $1,000 to repair. I am debating whether to fight for warranty coverage and risk a crappy job or just bite the bullet, get it done right, and then fight for compensation under warranty. Sorry for long post. Thought some of the info might be useful to someone.
