I just picked up a new, at least to me, 2011 3500 CC/LB SRW on Friday.

I find it annoying that when I stop at the quick shop on the way to work that I can't lock the doors while the engine is running, like I was able to with the '02, because the remote is stuck in the ignition. And the extra key only locks the driver's door and not the rest of the doors.

When I first got my 93 back in 94 we were snowmobiling in Easter Washington. One really cold morning, -5F I believe, we all went to the truck stop for breakfast and I left the Dodge idling in the parking lot with the doors locked. One of my buddies went the head and stopped at the front desk and asked the lady to announce that there was a Blue Dodge Pickup running in the parking lot!!!!! They all had a good laugh with me!!!!!

Chris

My 10 is the same, except I don't have remote locks. I take my spare key, roll the driver's window down, reach in and lock doors then hit the window auto up. Not perfect, but it works.

Saw a young gal about ten years go lock her Ford diesel manually when she got out to run in a store to only come and find the FOB was disabled while the motor was running. Chris

Lock all your doors with the lock switch on the arm rest, then reach over and unlock drivers door with your fingers, get out and use spare key to lock drivers door, that's how mine works, Monte

Not that I would recommend locking your rig while it's running this way, my experience came unexpectedly by leaving my dog in the cab with the fob in the console. Fortunately the spare fob was in the house.

Too many safeguards.
I can lock electrically the truck if I am in it and the engine is running. It will not lock if the drivers door is open.
I can lock the truck and leave it running by locking the drivers door manually as mentioned above and unlocking manually. Mine has a real key.
While you research this do it with the window down in case it doesn't work.
Back when I was transporting trailers we had a driver with another brand lock himself out of a running truck and he could not re open it with the FOB.

My preference would have been no power windows or door locks and certainly no Magic expensive keys but those days are gone even on the low end model. At least I have a key hole ins both doors

I might add that the only time I have done this is when on the road and stop at a rest stop and don't want to wait for the turbo to cool before shutting down. bgml

The only thing I have been able to is, open the door and let the system unlock all the doors, then close the driver door and hit the power lock switch. The when you open the driver door that is the only one that unlocks. Get out and lock the door with the extra key. I would be nice to be able to hit the remote start on the FOB and then remove it from the ignition and get out and lock the doors. Anyone figure out how to do this yet?

Do you have the other key fob? you should be able to carry it with you and lock the doors with it once you are outside the vehicle and all doors are closed.
