I've driven our 3500 6.7 about 8 days now - 1300 miles - mostly highway. I've not seen it regenerate or clean exhaust filter yet, although the DEF is showing usage. What gives with that? My '09 F250 6.4 did a regen about every 200-400 miles and then wanted to force me sometimes to "drive to regenerate exhaust filter" - what a waste of good fuel. First time Ram owner.

Also wanting to know if there is an easy way to monitor exhaust temperature without adding a tuner (which I will not do) or drilling a hole in the exhaust manifold like in the old days 10 years ago.

My 17 now has 26k on it. Not once have I been able tell if it is in regen nor has it ever given me any message about it at any time. As far as gauges you might look at the edge insight unit (it is a monitor only no extra power). it just plugs in the ob2 plug. While it doesn't give actual egt it does monitor the other temp sensors downstream of the exhaust manifold and you are supposed to be able to tell when it is in region via those sensors or at least one of them.

Anyone know if you shut down during a regen, does it starts up again when you get back on the road?

Never noticed! How would the average person know unless they installed something like the Edge Insight?

Yes. If you shut down in the midst of an active regen, it will start back up as soon as your truck gets back to operating temps. I had an Edge CTS on my truck when I bought it and it showed active regen status. The only other indication that I had was a mild burning smell from road grime baking off the exhaust during regens and occasionally I could notice a slightly more rough idle sound when stopped at a red light. I haven't had the Edge on at all this year, therefore haven't had the indicator light this year, and I haven't noticed any regens this year. I know they are occurring, but they are so smooth that its almost impossible to notice unless you are paying very close attention all the time.

Rest assured that your truck is dong what it needs to do =)!
