I spoke with the Dilfer Chrysler dealer he said to expect the new body style in the 2500 next year. He also mentioned that the Cummins

contract has been renewed and the Benz diesel will be an option.

I hope the 4-door cab is different on the bigger models, the 1500 model I set in sucked. It only had a couple of extra inches. I went that same day and sat in a ford and chevy and they both had way more room in them. I can't believe chrysler would waist thier time and effort on this. Alot of us have waited a long time for a crew-cab and they give us this. I'm really disapointed in them. :(

dissapointment

Just returned from the SEMA show in Vegas... . spoke at length with the Chrysler dudes, the 2500 will be identical to the current 4-door truck according to them. If so, you're right... . a dissapointment for sure.

Same size interior

My impression is that the back seat area has the same amount of space and that there may be a few inches more in the front. Some of this gain appears to be from a shorter dash

options

My dealer showed me 2 flyers from DC that talked about the engine options in fall of 2002. The new cummins in the four door is going to be 275hp stock and you also have the option of the new hemi engine or a allison transmission also. Don't know how true this is but it was on two seperate flyers. One talked about the new engine and transmission options, the other talked about the new hemi engine also being an option in the 2500 and 3500. Any body else hear of this... ...

Four Wheeler magazine showed a 2500 and 3500 with the camo on. Looks like grill is the same and 4 door is the same as 1500. I'm still holding out for new 2500with 4 doors no matter how large or small they are.

Not trying to start anything here but see I'm 6'7" and I sat in the back of the new 4 door and I had "enough" room to be comfortable with the front seat back. How much room do we really need back there. I liked it. Must of us won't let anybody play with OUR toy anyway, right:D  :D

For what's it's worth,

I want to SLEEP on the back seat. The Qcab is a little tight for this fat boy. I guess I need to go down to the local dealer and nap on the back seat for 30 minutes or so. Then I will know.

Barry, Check it out, have the dealer tuck you in, and then let us know what you think about the extra room.

Surprise!

According to our G. M who is attending a zone meeting in Billings this day, the 2500/3500 will be available with a larger quad cab like Chev/Ford offers. I have taken a trip in the current 1/2 ton quad cab, and the comfort level was high. I'm 6'3" tall. The current quad cab is the replacement for the old style quad cab. It is the "extended cab" version for Dodge.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the engine compartment. Has anyone else looked at how tight the 1/2 ton compartment is? I don't see how they are gonna get a Cummins stuffed in the same amount of space.

Olron, So what you are saying is that the 1500 QC takes place of current QC and the 2500 & 3500 will be an updated full size 4 door verison??

Anybody have an idea when the 2500 will be coming out. Have a freind that wants to buy a new Ram. Will he have to wait another year or will it be out soon?

I saw an article in truck trend on a spy photo with the camo on the grille. it had the flip up mirrors-don't know if powered, and was pulling a trailer in arizona. can't tell from the photo if the 4-door is bigger than the other one or not but they are finally making one at least.

I agree, I hate the 1500 engine and radiator configurement, what bright "engineer" thought that up?
