I just installed a 4" Rip Rooks exhaust. It sounds good at idle and at upper rpms, but when I shift while under load it has a nasty sssskkkkkkk sound. I think its the turbo unspooling but I wouldn't think it would sound this bad. I love the straight pipe other than that. I was wondering if you guys to tell whats wrong or is this normal? :(

Does this sound you're describing sound like forced air?

It is likely the turbo, and if its the sound I'm thinking it is, that is a GOOOOOD sound. You'll learn to love it. If not, I dunno.

It's just your motor saying thank you for cooling off your EGT's and letting it breath better... My motor purrs through my dual 5" stacks...

it sounds like the turbo is just letting off... . gotta love the sound of a straight piped cummins... . give it some time, after a while thats all you'll wanna hear ;) it scares the ricers away. LOL

Just the turbo talking to you. It's a good sound. The "sssskkkkkkk" you describe makes me think of what mine sounds like with the exhaust brake on. :)

If you shut it down somewhere quiet, you can hear the turbo spool down through the exhaust too.
