Help me understand one point. Look at 20-23 seconds. I see a torque convertor on the old engine right? What’s on the front of the AT in the truck? Or are they installing a new TC at the same time?

Yes, apparently a new converter in the old trans.
They couldn't get the old converter off the blown up engine because the crank wouldn't turn to allow them to get to the converter bolts. They won't be able to separate them until they take the blown up engine apart.

It would be interesting to hear from the owner and how this all came down. Hopefully not towing or in a demanding condition. I would imagine it's a big bang and then nothing.
Good to see they wanted it all back.

Well that shoots a hole in all the memes about Fords and cabs coming off.....
A tech at a dealership I frequent in Somerset KY can beat book time by removing the cab....so, more money in his pocket when being paid flat rate. He was actually working on a 2018 3500 with some type of catastrophic engine failure as well.

I'm assuming this is at a Cummins service facility? I didn't know they were authorized to do warranty work for Ram.

It looked like a small diesel shop to me, and not affiliated with Cummins or Ram.

Truck must have broke down in the boonies and received permission to do the repair there.

The lack of uniforms threw me off but I'd have never guessed they would authorize anyone else to do the repair. Interesting.

When you get such an imbalance-every kid knows how to program a website now, so they have low value-but none of them want to turn a wrench for fear of a hangnail, well at some point wages have to go up for techs, right? Best mechanic I know is limited to working on Honda/Acura, he is probably around $125/hour now, happy to pay him, and he NO LONGER takes new customers he is so busy. Unless supply and demand economics does not apply to the labor force, at some point all of these jobs will pay a lot more. You can't outsource auto repair to China....
