New 6.7L

Hey all- My company has purchased 6 brand new school buses w/ the 6. 7L motor. They were supposed to be here already but got held up waiting on Bosch parts. Expected delivery is in the next 4 weeks. I was wondering if I could get some input from all of you who have been running these for a while. High points, concerns, things to look out for, things to watch, etc. Any and all input would be great. I'm looking forward to seeing what they will do and how they will perform, I'm just hoping they don't spend more time in the shop w/ warranty issues than they do running.

more than likely they will have the C & C setup. those trucks have been doing alot better. much bigger dpf. also it seems that the dpf works better when the truck is loaded. a school bus is heavy, short or long. my thoughts you will have better luck than some of us. you are going to change the oil more often than a normal diesel.

The school buses will NOT have the same engine/aftertreatment setup that any Dodge Rams have. The Rams have a front gear train and the buses will have rear gear train, the control software is different as is the aftertreatment steup... . the list goes on and on.

That is a huge difference w/ a rear gear train. I question why they would put that in a school bus though. That's going to make getting at anything like the air comporessor or p. s. difficult if it's running off the rear of the motor.

So many changes, hard to keep up.

I read some of the info on Cummins website, they say the oil change interval is 15k miles. I'm definitely going to have to change it more often than that because we don't run a lot of miles on them so that would be once a year. I hope they give me lots of info to read through about these things, although I'm guessing the dealership probably won't know a whole lot. I'm sure they'll be better than the gutless 3208Cat motors we've been running. And if they can get 6-8 mpg that will be a big improvement. I have a digital camera, when they come in I'll try to get some pictures posted so you can take a look at it.
