New 6 Speed Truck

I'm looking to buy a new truck with the 6 speed transmission. It will be configured to tow a 10K 5th wheel trailer. How long is the break in period before I can tow my 5er over the Grapevine into LA from Bakersfield? I would prefer hooking up as soon as it was fitted and break it in while towing, but I don't want to hurt my truck.

Recommendation is to break in the rear axle for 500 miles before towing. The engine doesn't care.

According to what I read from Cummins awhile back the engine can be run at full load from day one. I would agree with klenger to break in the truck before towing. In addition it has always been my practice to replace all lubricating fluids within 1000 miles, just to get rid of assembly lubes and any metal bits. But thats just me.



Have you found many trucks to buy? I ordered mine today--- just not many around if your looking for the "600" (especially 6 spds)
