No dust, dirt, or any debri inside. The filter does a great job and I love the whine I get from the turbo. So all the K&N haters out there keep hating it but before you diss it further without using one. To just take the word of a few people that probably did not care for it or live in a place that is like a dust bowl, give it a try first before you bash a product that has set the mark for others to follow.
PS... I am not a K&N employee, just a dedicated consumer.

The ONLY 4 layer that does a respectible job of stopping dirt is the AFE as it has a patented (sp) material that has each layer being a slightly smaller opening in the material, plus they cross stack the layers instaed of using the same size opening material and stacking one hole over another to form a straight thru tunnell. The AFE forces the air to turn in the media and combined with the smaller holes the deeper you go into the filter it stops the dirt.
You can do a similiar deal by using heavy grease in the intake tube of a Dodge/GM to collect the dirt that goes thru.
