New Addition to the fleet. I have been looking for a nice early 650 Triumph for a while. This is a 1970 650 Bonneville that I bought from the original owner! Needs a few things dialed in. The guy spent $6,000. on the engine and trans restoration and then left it in his garage for 6 years. It has about 300 miles on the engine. I guess at 60yrs old, I am going through my second childhood:D

What a great find...

From having several motorcycles like that... I've found that its quite common for the owner to keep the motorcycle with a half tank or less of fuel, allowing the moisture to rust the side of the tank. . it might be a great idea to look into the tank, and see how much rust is there... in the past I've had to remove the tank and clean them and seal them to prevent the scale on the walls of the tank from giving me grief over time...

A Triumph Bonneville was at the peak of motorcycles back in the '50s - '60s but I'd much rather ride the BMW 1600GT I see in the garage.

Nice find. That should be a fun ride when the bugs get worked out.

I found and bought a motorcycle back in 1997 that had been sitting for years in a garage. It was a 1985 Kawasaki Vulcan 750cc. It only had 630 miles on it - still had the break-in stickers on the speedometer. It was a shaft drive and very smooth. Paid $1100 for it. I had to put new brakes and tires and change all the fluids. (water cooled). My wife and I used to cruise around central Ohio in the evenings after work etc... I remember once I went for a ride on nice sunny Saturday morning in the country and a big bumble bee went down the sleeve of my tee shirt and started to sting me. Boy was it a site to see. I couldn't get the bike stopped fast enough all while I was punching my side trying to kill the bee. When I finally got stopped I ripped off my helmet and tee shirt to find the bumble bee in various pieces.

Motorcycling was fun but I'm glad it's out of my system now.

It looked something like this one.

Nice looking find. I'm always amazed at how good your vehicles look out there in Cali. I'm not used to seeing them without the layer of salt or ice on them.

I really liked the 650 Triumphs and BSA's. They were not very popular by the time I became of age. I did own two 650 Yamaha twins, a 1976 and a 1980, Japan's version of America's parallel twins.

I talked to him about the BMW and it sounds like a rocket... . Inline 6 cylinder, transverse mounted! This guy is in the "Iron Butt" club and apparently rides this BMW all over the US

When I graduated from high school I bought my first NEW motorcycle. I looked at a 78 Triumph 750. It was a Silver Jubilee and I really liked it. I ended up buying a Suzuki GS 1000E. Because my best friend and I each bought one at the same time we got a killer deal. I still wish I bought the Triumph.
