On page 54 of the March issue of Four Wheeler magazine, there is a picture of a new towing mirror made by Bestop that looks a bit like the Ford style that telescopes in and out on parallel horizontal tubes. I haven't checked on their website to see if they're pictured on it, but here's the address:

Do you have a pic of them on your truck, I would be intrested to see what they look like, cause i'm sick of my slide on mirrors :p :D

RR -I'll charge the battery in the digital camera and try to post a picture tomorrow.

I hear ya about the slip on mirrors. Used them for 3 years but the x-mounts are soooooo much better!!

Andy- Yes, they are heated and power. Plug right up to the stock connectors. Took about 45 minutes to install both.

FYI, there's an article in this month's Trailer Life about the Lucerix mirrors. They test 'em on a Dodge... ... ...

Anyone using this mirror?

Retains ALL electrical functions.

10" X 10" Extendable and folding.

aprox. $250. 00 each

I've been waiting to see if I could find more info on these. I just picked up a brochure this past week. A friend of mine said there was an issue of Trailer Life that did a story on these. Anyone know what Issue? I like the idea of adjusting the mirror by ME. The wife has never been able to follow instructions!!

These are the mirrors I have. They power in and out , are heated and use stock adjustment switch. A small switch is installed in the door for the power in and out. I've had them since June and I'm really happy with them. Ed

Ed, Andy already has a set of the second generation Power Vision mirrors. As he has a '97 Ram, and the second generation mirrors are specifically made for the '98 and newer Rams, adaptation is a bit of a challenge.

BTW Andy, I saw the very same advertisement in Four Wheeler Magazine. Tell me, are you interested in a set of those big elephant ears?

..... probably cut mileage by at least 2 mpg :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf

JCWhitney

JCWhitney sells the Cipa mirrors. For the heated power mirrors they are $449 a set

Note: These do not have the slick power extend/retract feature like the PowerVision mirrors, you have to do it manually.

I forgot all about them. I only had them on for a few days, and I put the old ones ('98's) back on. I never did cut any wires. I don't know, right now I'm so busy with school, I don't have time to deal with them.

MIRRORS

Does anyone know if the CIPA and the Lucerix are the same mirror? They appear to be the same in looks and mounting.

Geno's sells the CIPA in their latest catalog. I just installed a set. They are a good product. Manual in and out but electrical adjust. Very solid mount for my 1996. Comes with thick reinforcing brackets that bolt inside the door under the panels. Easy to install. I have left over slip ons for sale cheap if anyone wants them. Also stock electric mirrors and another brand of bolt on towing mirrors that are gathering dust... they all fit 94-97

Mirrors

Cipa,Lucerix, and Bestop are all the same mirrors and are priced at 349. 00 thru stylinconcepts.com which is the electric and heated units.

I would also like to add (having just installed the Luceriex X-Mount) that they are an improvement over the Dodge Flip out towing mirrors. I feel they provide a better field of view, and increase the distance out a little.

Others may disagree but no matter what they are better than the stock one (non towing version).

Power adjustments work as advertised. We'll see this winter about the heating element.

Looks like just what I need. Too bad they don't show one for the 'ol first gens. :( Something like that would be great, since I have factory power mirrors and hate to remove them and drill holes in my doors for the big old fashioned trailering mirrors.
