Just received my copy of Desiel Power and there is a artical about the S & B cold air intake system.

I have a K & N filter in my air box that I swiss cheesed the bottom of.

Just wondering on the thoughts of everyone on this S & B intake system and if it would be better than what I have done so far.

I had a Airraid dropin filter in mine and was disappointed with it.

Iv since replaced it with a Amsoil dropin and am very pleased with it.

One thing I did notice was a drop in the EGT s by about 50* with the new filter.

i like mine. i dont know about performance whise. but if you want your turbo to be louder this is alot cheaper than the afe stage2 even if you buy there "superior" filter and bolt it onto the s&b box. i also like the fact that the clear lid on the box lets you keep an eye on the filter

I have the S&B. IT is a good system. It reuses your bottom factory boot to connect to the turbo. I used a Amsoil nano filter (dry) instead of the oiled factory filter. Then it was much better.

which filter did u use from amsoil part#? also did changing the filter do anything to make the turbo louder or did you do it just to have the better filtration?

I used Amsoil Universal cone filter # EaaU4095. It is a bit bigger but if you remove the inner plastic fender cover (the one with the square opening). The shift the box away from the fender it wil fit nicely. I replaced the oil filter with an easily clean and better (supossedly)flowing. The gauges showed a bit lower egt. But mainly for teh ease of cleaning.

I used the S&B filter for about 7500 miles. It performed well and I like having a cleanable filter. I purchased it mainly for it's "closed" airbox design and filtering ability, but the filter/tube fit rather loosely in the airbox hole. But the one thing I could not get over was the mounting. With just two bolt in the rear of the box(using stock mounting brackets) and nothing in the front, it would just flop up and down. BTW, if anyone still wants one I will sell it cheap.
