ATS Intake manifold opinions?!

Seen that they have a new one out. I've heard Banks design doesn't gain any hp. Anyone have this new one yet. Any hp gain or hard info. on this.

The ATS Ram Intake manifold provides superior airflow versus the stock intake horn. Arc-flow™ design increases efficiency and improves air velocity into the engine. The shrouded back side of the manifold provides an embossed area where gauges and other inputs can tap into providing a clean and easy install. This is one item that anyone can install simply and quickly for improved performance!

I definately want one. Has anyone heard a price on it???

In another thread on the Banks Manifold, price for the ATS was quoted as $350.

In the same thread hard dyno evidence was quoted of a 20HP gain with the Banks intake in BF/After dyno pulls.

ATS claims their Manifold is just as good as Banks, besides it looks betterOo.

Thanks RedRam. Spunky must have been seriously over fueled to gain 20 hp & drop 75* egt simply by letting more air in. I have no doubt the High Ram flows better than the stock air horn. I'm sure the ATS & the mandrel bent idea would do something similar. The fellow that posted the story about the lost power a while back only lost 1 hp. on one run, if I remember right. That's a meaningless difference & he obviously was getting all the air his motor needed already. He didn't bother to report any change in temperature.

My guess just looking at the ATS intake is it's a better design than the Banks. It doesn't flare open to a large cross section then cone down again to enter the grids spacer like the Banks does. To me Bank's design would induce turbulance.

There have been mixed results with the Banks intake, some have lost HP with it.

I didnt see any "hard dyno results" in the mentioned thread. Banks = over rated and overpriced

I don't know how hard you want the results. If we can take Spunky's at his word, he's not a Banks fan either but he ran his rig back to back with & without the high ram & got 20 hp more with it. 449 hp without, 469 hp with and the egt was down 75*. It's post #16 on the second page.

ats air intake

anyone heard anything about this? seen it in yhe new tdr, looks like a nice piece. ats told me it will be ready for sell in a month or so price will be about 260. 00. wonderin if it will make a diff. or not?

If nothing else it offers convenient access ports and it looks nice...

I'd be willing to bet it will flow more air with less turbulence, right till the air hits the manifold and has to go either direction.

If anyone ever builds a real intake plenum that might be something to look at, now having said that I do like this piece... ... . it's got the cooler effect.

you mean like THIS its nice but who wants to take out a loan for an intake $$$$.

Forgot to mention cutting the stock cast plenum off your head.

Thats it. You know that looks alot like what the Pro stock/Super stock tractors were useing for pulling also. The tappered design that is.
