Just installed new Bilstein shocks @ 50K miles; the original shocks were not worn out, but do lack the quality of the Bilsteins. I have not driven the truck yet, but hope it will be an improvement. I had to drop the rear swaybar to get the passenger side bottom bolt out.

Also tried to change the power steering fluid; I could only pull out 1/2 qrt with the suction gun. I replaced the 1/2 qrt and will do it again in the near future.

I've heard of many of you having to drop the rear sway bar, but for me the easiest method was to drive the truck up to the side of a steep incline which lowers the sway bar enough to remove the shock bolt. The bolt is then reinstalled in the proper direction on the level. :D

I know I will stir a fury of reprimand for this but just want to add to your effort. I have fixed 5 dodges and 10-12 Superduties that need steering boxes replaced. It takes about 10-15 mins. of running the pump and holding the wheel against the stop to 1 side for the pump to prime. So, what I am saying is I have ran the pumps for 10-15 mins until they primed and never hurt one. So, if you are really wanting it all out crack one od the line off the steering box and let it leak out. ( I know this will cause a stir... ) ( I also had a guy drive out to my place cause he could not get his to prime. He didnt call me and drove it 30 miles with no PS and a whining pump. After we let the foam setting I got it primmed. He has had it for 2 years and never had an issue. I would have told him not to drive it that far but that tells me they are pretty forgiving)

bilsteins

I live in hill country, and those bilsteins are just great on the corners, they stop the truck from acting like a boat, and at the limits, the truck acts predictable and stable! Love em!
