New Oil Sources??

I found this article on the Indianapolis Star website this morning. They are touting that the Indiana biodiesle plant will be the world's largest.

Why cant we as in Americans own this plant why must we let or have others own this plant ,this in turn is no better than Citgo Oil or BP Oil or other plants owned buy offshore co. Idid not want to use the F word its to likey to bring up the port crap that mr,bush tryed .

Yes I am for biofuel from an American Owned Co. lets say ,buy American farmers and American Investors. Not greedy Offshore Owners.

I am by no means an expert on this subject. But, I have recently subscribed to several farming magazines (I come from a farming family, but after High School went to College, and am now living in the "City" in a non Farming career). Anyway, I have subscribed to these magazines to keep myself up on whats going on in the farming world. I had read an article in..... I believe Hoosier Farmer; regarding calling your senator and asking for support for a bill that would in effect channel monies to groups researching the uses of agricultural products and using them "at home" (in the US). In this same article it spoke of how to make the US farmer more money. How could that happen??? Make the price of his commodities go up... right? Well, supposedly these Biodiesel plants would in effect make the price of beans go up. Now, I know that politicians and lobiests can say whatever they want, and make empty claims. However, I feel that a step in any direction to help the american farmer would be a positive step. It is for that reason that I was excited to see the project in Northern Indiana go.

Thank you cjhall, I will keep an eye out for a follow-up story updating the progess and more importantly the ownership of this plant.

Bio Fuel

no thank you, this is what america needs

we need a wakeup call and we need to be able to make what we need here and not import what we need.

It would be an amazing turnaround if the nation's farmers became like the nation's oil tycoons someday. I'd be looking for land to "grow oil" if I could afford it. I hope some of them still grow veggies and grains though. I could see how farmers would want to grow soybeans if they pay the most. Maybe the price of vegetables will go way up because no one wants to grow them as they don't pay as much as soybeans.

growing

as long as the govt stays out of it and does not offer to pay them not to grow (ya right) whats the saying (SSDD) AND BIG OIL STAYS OUT OF IT

Well, I found a paper copy of the article, and it stated that it was a French company that would own the plant.

GREAT!!!!! The French!!!!

This is in claypool in. It is about 20 miles from my house, I havent been over there yet to see what it looks like. The town is small and nothing much going on except farming, so this will be a big boost for them once it is up and running (I hope).

If we can keep our money here at home, AWAY from big oil and the middle east, than it is a WIN WIN for us.

Than we can tell the trouble makers in the middle east to go screw themselves,They can keep their oil, and if they dont straighten up ,we will quit exporting goods, food, not sell them ANYTHING and tell them they can just eat their oil.

I fully support the bio-diesel effort and have already written the governor, my state rep, state senator, congressman, and senator to support bio-diesel effort with taxation credits, which will work themselves to the pump, making bio-diesel more financially attractive than dino-diesel.

Sadly, non of addressies have taken any time to respond - seems they are not interested in bio-diesel and what it will do for ALL of us.

If this government non-response is any indication about "our" country's interest in bio-diesel, it is no surprise that the Indiana bio-diesel plant is not owned by U. S. but foreign investors.

Maybe we all need to thank GM for building those pieces of crap converted small-block V8 diesels that smoked, and had not reliability for ruining the diesel reputation in this country. Afterall, if consumers are interested in a product, they will vote for it with their $$$$$$$'s.
