Oil Consumption and sampling

I'd love to see more stuff like this actually going to market. Instead of being part of the problem like most people think, I believe our diesels have the potential to be among the most enviro-friendlly vehicles out there. I just wish we had the same diesel options here in the States that are enjoyed everywhere else in the world.

I'm sure the oil lobby will suppress this technology, too. Just like they do with soydiesel. I would gladly pay a bit more for somthing that recycles chickensh^& and is environmentally friendly, but this makes too much sense for our government to promote it!

Merry Christmas To All,

yup, big oil has uncle sam in their back pocket...

I'm all for alternative fuel vehicles and exploration of electric vehicles (notice I didn't say federally mandated minimums there-of!)

I wish I could get ethanol/methanol at the pump! :D

but yeah, diesels really have the potential to be VERY enviro-friendly, but there's no MONEY in doing the right thing... :(

Alternate fuels can be good, but sometimes are not all they are supposed to be. Where I live I am FORCED by the goverment to buy blended gasoline. It is up to 10% ethanol and also has another compound in it that I think is PTPE? Anyway, the "reformulated" gasoline as it is called sucks. Power output is down enough to feel the difference. Fuel economy in 3 different vehicles I have had is 20-35% worse. It also eats the seals in fuel injectors, I have seen a GM tech bulletin that pointed this fact out. I can drive about 40 miles west and get straight gasoline, and do on a regular basis. Tell me that getting 24 MPGburning 10% ethanol is going to produce less emissions than getting 30 MPG on straight gasoline. We need to be careful in how and when we support alternate fuels, they can be a bad thing. IF the research is all done and ALL the data is presented to us then give it our support, but not until then IMO.

EXACTLY... LOGIC and not burocracy should dictate alt fuel usage!

10% ethanol may suck but I assure you 100% methanol DOES NOT! too bad it's $3-4/ a gallon and gets half the mileage of gasoline... if I could get it at the pump for a DECENT price, I'd have one HELL of a LOW emissions vehicle!!! :D
