hey I'm new to posting on this board, although I have been following it for a few years ha. . but finally paid my $35 bucks to post hehe... any way I have a '89 ton srw 727 auto 307 gears etc I already cut the exhaust off before muffler and welded in a 5" side exit exhaust. . gonna bomb it . . so I need intercooler. I have a line on a stock 92 intercooler. . but I'm not sure if that is the best way to go. . ie biggest size best flow etc. . I can fabricate and have my own tig welder etc so customizing one is not a problem. . I think if I get one from a izuzu box truck or something and cut it down to fit in the dodge radiator area... the banks is out of the question as its supposedly $800. . I thinK I could make one for like $200-350... probably less... . any input?. . also once I get intercooler I plan on doing injectors . . Piers what the price on your bad *** lucas princess of death injectors?????ps this truck is pretty quick stock... the transmission is STRONG!. . but it only tops out at about 78mph. . what have you guys done and what prices for those mods ie gear vendors etc or what... ? let me know thanks

I was gonna post the very same question about the intercooler... anyway, if you do fabricate one, let us know how much it cost you and how well it functions for your application... if it's efficient and reasonable(as 800$ from Banks isnt!) you might have some customers wanting intercoolers. . myself included

Ditto, A cheaper alternative to the empty wrecking yards sounds do-able.

I am still waiting for someone to tell me what injectors/intercooler is best for a factory non-intercooled Cummins. As a novice in bombing a Cummins, I am hoping SOMEONE would lay it on the line and take a stand. By the way I will most likely be buying Banks intercooler and gauges, if someone would ever get back to me with current prices.

I would recomend putting in the Gear Vendor overdrive as I did, I now clear the clock,
more than 85 mph and still only doing 2500-2600 rpm, still climbing but now only guessing on speed.
70 mph, 1950 rpm.

Keep the stock injectors from the ‘89. If you must fiddle with them take them to a good
fuel shop and have them blueprinted. Making all the opening pressures the same or as close to the same as possible and raise the stock opening pressure. The only difference
between the stock early first gen injectors and the 300hp marine seems to be the opening
pressure of the nozzle. (245-253 vs. 262-270) Bosch makes the same injector in both 7mm and 9mm tipped nozzles. I have blueprinted injectors in the past and it does make a difference. Like the same noticeable difference before and after a valve adjustment.

Turn the fuel screw on the pump one turn to start with then adjust the smoke for a livable level. Just do search on pump adjustments and all the info is there!

Free flowing exhaust with a 16cm2 turbo housing and you will be very happy with all the power your auto can handle.

Auto salvage yards have '93 intercoolers now and then. Most do not know what they are worth. I have paid $250 and I have paid $500 for the same intercooler with all the piping and connections. Banks is good quality stuff but $$$! Get the radiator while your there you will need it too!

Stabco has the turbo housings you need.
